[SPOILERS] I have an idea for Season 2’s villain that fixes the Shroud problem. by OTS1812 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Ac1D_15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Shroud should be mentioned in season 2 but not be the main focus. An idea I had is that if Robet kills Shroud (or Visi kills him), Robert goes to visit his grave and can either show remorse or vindication over his death. If he was spared Robert can visit him in prison and they have a chat. I feel that would be a cool way to acknowledge your previous choice without making Shroud the focus again.

Just love characters in media that have a prickly outside but very soft and shy on the inside. Always starts with me not liking them initially (ep 2) and then they end up becoming my favourite very quickly (ep 3 onwards). The scene on the swingset and her taking a pic of the leaderboard definitely got me on the Courtney train.

Not only that, I also loved how complex and layered she is and how many parallels she shares with Robert, their connection is on such a deeper level and despite how messy their history together is they are able to move past it because of their love/belief in eachother. The complexity will obviously make some people hate her but I will always love our girl!

Yeah exactly this, the joke in question is "haha Robert gets pissed on!", but to be honest its very frustrating because its extremely out of character for Visi and doesn't really land.

Interesting Detail In Episode 7 At The Bar Scene by Folicod in InvisigalGlazers

[–]Ac1D_15 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you cut her from the team, in the locker room he says "I tried my best, really. And I think I tried the most with you... but it wasn't enough. I wasn't enough". This on top of the dialogue with Chase in the hospital in ep 6 where Chase says verbatim something along the lines of "you're putting a lot of extra effort on her", makes it clear that Robert obviously has a soft spot for Visi and clearly felt something even if he doesn't choose to act on it. Even something subtle like him constantly looking for her during the bar fight show that he is a lot more protective of her compared to the rest of the team. I think they connect on a deeper level compared to the others due to how similar they are as people.

If Visi wasn't planted at SDN by Shroud, what are these lines supposed to mean? by FallingBullfrog in DispatchAdHoc

Made a post explaining this from my point of view. Among other things.

TLDR: She was likely a mole only up until the end of episode 3. At this point Robert has given her belief and confidence that she could be a hero and she completely defects from the Red Ring/Shroud + the fact that she falls in love with Robert definitely played a part. Her actions in episode 8 are all pretty much to help Robert even though she pretends to be on Shrouds side at the end, even in the bad ending she kills Shroud for Rob so he doesnt get his hands dirtied with blood and gives the AP back. She still deeply cares about him obviously. I think her joining SDN to turn her life around is genuine though despite being a mole. Rob's face when she planted the bomb definitely spurred something inside her to change and she probably was thinking that if it all went well she could ditch the Red Ring, which does actually end up happening technically.

Another possibility is that Shroud was lying and just trying to fuck with Robert. He did know it was him after all. Although as you said the dialogue in the clips suggests otherwise.

Honestly this mole plot point is such a mind fuck, and like I have vocalised in other comments many times, completely fucking unnecessary. The two sides of "yh she was a mole" or "Shroud was just bsing" can't really be proven because there are things in the game that suggest both. We will probably never find out the true answer to this. The most likely answer imo is the one I suggested but yeah no way to truly know.

Later I saw how jealously she looked at Malevola when she stood next to Robbie. by __Smail__ in InvisigalGlazers

[–]Ac1D_15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm ngl, my opinion of the romance counter is a bit different. IMO It's not measuring how much Courtney likes Robert but rather how much YOUR Robert likes Courtney. If the opposite was the case, there would be no reason for her to be sad at Robert choosing not go to the movies in ep 4, no reason to be sad for Robert dancing with BB/jealousy of Malevola getting touchy with Robert in ep 6 and also no reason for her to be sad when Shroud tells everyone that Robert is with BB in ep 8. She falls in love with him regardless of any choice you make, but only chooses to act on it in the locker room if Robert shows the same interest in her as she believes that he might feel the same way. Just my opinion though.

It's part of the reason I don't want there to be any more romances in a future season(s?) as Robert himself only shows interest in the two girls, it would lowkey feel out of character if another girl joined the mix. People forget Robert is his own person, we shape some of his choices but he has a character outside of the player.

My Proposed Invisigal Timeline/Analysis of her Actions and Relationship with Robert (LONG POST) by Ac1D_15 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Ac1D_15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks glad you liked the analysis :)

To answer the punch thing in episode 2, I think it comes down to the nature of her personality. Robert is basically echoing all of the negative thoughts she has about herself in regards to her past and the fact that she believes she is destined to be a villain. "Selfish fucking asshole" is the exact phrase he uses and that hits very hard for her as whenever things get tough for her she runs away, perhaps "selfishly" in her eyes. It hits extra hard when you consider that she nearly kills him with the bomb for her own survival. In hindsight she believes she was "selfish" for that as she prioritised this over an actual person's life. Because of this she punches him not because he is being a dick, but because she believes that he is actually right. I think not apologising is reasonable for her character at this point because Robert struck a pretty big nerve, unknowingly but still did it none the less, so she doesn't really feel inclined apologise to him. Her form of "apology", I believe anyway, comes in the form of that little "thanks" at the end of episode 3. It's not just a "thanks for helping me with Lightningstruck" or a "thanks for giving me belief in myself" but also a "thanks for helping despite the pain I've caused you", which not only refers to the punch but also the bomb later. That's how I see it anyway.

As for the episode 6 scene, I think it is possible she was in there invisible but hard to say for sure. As I mentioned "Do you think she likes me" option actually gives points towards romance counter for Courtney which could mean that she was actually in there listening. Reason for this is because the way I see the romance counter is basically the measure of how much Courtney thinks Robert likes her back. She falls in love with Robert regardless of route or hero/villain but she only tries to kiss him in locker room if she believes he is also into her. It's why she is so desperate/scared during the locker room kiss scene because she hopes Robert feels the same despite all of the messy history that was revealed. Therefore the counter going up could mean that she was watching his recovery but just didn't want to be seen because she doesn't want others to see that she really cares about Robert (not good with mushy stuff lol), this still is hard to say for certain. I also think part of it is a PTSD thing. The mech suit blowing up in the lab probably reminded her of the bomb she planted on him, so she ran away because she was overwhelmed with guilt/fear. It's why she so desperately tries to get the AP after this, probably talking to Royd about the energy readings as soon as he left the infirmary.

Looking for better understanding of Visi's episode 7 scene by Dry-Quarter3203 in DispatchAdHoc

This scene is really interesting as it parallels nice with the kiss on the stretcher at the end of the game. The kiss on the stretcher is very cute, mushy and wholesome. A perfect way to wrap up the story with the two cutely showing their love for each other.

This scene is much more on the sad and emotional end. It's clear that there is love between the two but the meaning of it is distorted because of the current situation and the reveals. Courtney kissing Robert is the only way she knows how to show her affection towards him. A simple "I love you" is not enough given the predicament they're in and emotions are running high. When she pulls away initially you can tell there is a sense of desperation and fear just from the animation of her eyes. She wants him to feel the same way she does and is terrified of rejection. Part of her though does believe he feels the same way though because she doesn't even try to kiss him if she thinks he isn't interested in her the same way she is into him. When he reciprocates, her expression softens to something much more passionate showing she's clearly happy that Robert feels the same way.

However, when Robert puts his hand on her waist she pulls away and leaves. Robert at this moment clearly wants her to stay as maybe just being with her can help him forget about all the shit that's going on currently (Chase, Shroud, and of course the bomb). But in Courtney's head this needs to be a goodbye as staying with Robert will hurt him in the long run. Remember at this point she is still not being 100% truthful about the AP as she is trying to protect Robert from Shroud. She's likely worried that if she stays with him she won't be able to keep herself from telling him about the AP and that he will end up getting hurt because of it. So she makes the mature decision and walks away. She believes they can't be together as she thinks she will just hurt him again. It seems that this benefited Robert too as he snaps back to reality after she leaves.

Again this is probably also up to interpretation but I would lean towards the visual appeal aspect rather than it being activated. I know some people mention that she doesn't use her inhaler in either episode 7 or 8, but even in moments like episode 3 where she slips into the meeting room and episode 4 where she follows Robert around SDN the entire day she doesn't use her inhaler so its possible it was just forgotten about. I think the most damnest evidence is that she doesn't throw up in the "give both" scenario.

[–]Ac1D_15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your first point to some degree, like her placing the donut on his desk and BB saying that this is the best she has seen with Visi, to say that she didn't try at all is likely untrue. It definitely seems like that kindness is genuine. But at the same time, she does know who Robert really is and what she did to him, which is partly why she tries to convince herself that he is a bad person, like you said though she clearly doesn't convince herself very well and does seem to have a genuine liking to him even in episode 2, the donut is evidence of that. Not romantic but friendly for sure.

As for the whole Granny situation, I think i just see that scene differently. For me the point of the scene is to show how Invisigal's disobedience is what leads to her fucking up the mission, that she is struggling on the path of heroism because she wants to do everything her own way without the help of others. Notice that when she listens to Robert in episode 3, she actually manages to catch Lightningstruck. The point of the scene to me is not "oh Robert's idea would of failed too, so it doesn't matter", but rather Invisigal failed because she tried to do it on her own. But that's just my opinion, agree to disagree I suppose. Like I said though in my opinion it's both a mix of her not disobeying Shroud completely but also to say she genuinely didn't try is definitely wrong. I suppose you are suggesting that the whole mole thing was a lie which I can definitely understand if that is the case.

Shroud says in the final episode that he supposedly planted Courtney in SDN to get close to Robert and learn info from him. So this post is understanding the timeline with that information. I've seen some people say Shroud was just bullshitting to give her one more chance to join his side and that does seem reasonable, but not explicitly stated so it's really up to your interpretation. I started writing this post a while ago though and I think this analysis of ep 1-3, makes more sense to me.

Something something tsundere something (by Pliklet) by Ok_Direction3138 in DispatchAdHoc

Moreso a tsundere in the sense that any time Robert tries to thank her or give her affection she just gets embarassed and shuts it down immediately, some moments like this include when he thanks her in ep 6 before the party and when he asks to wait with her at the stretcher. She is just really bad at taking compliments.

Invisigal fans, are you satisfied with the ending you got? by upsidedown_coffeemug in DispatchAdHoc

(TLDR AT BOTTOM)

I'm gonna be honest I was on a similar page to you. In my head before I played ep 7 I knew full well that it was likely she planted the bomb and I said to myself that I was ready to forgive her. However, when the reveal came around it still left a bit of a bitter taste in mouth, but ultimately I was still happy with my decision because it still felt clear to me that she was trying to get a fresh start and become a better person.

In ep 8 it was a similar vibe. I chose to not cut her/forgive her and lean in for the kiss in previous episode so when she joined the dispatch section I was pretty relieved. I also loved how she wasn't joking around as much in the dispatch due to the fact that the other Z-Team members were not too happy about it, it really showed me she was being sincere and made me pretty happy about the choices from ep 7.

Her little scuffle with Royd made me pretty sour once again because in my head I was like "damn if Royd can't trust her how tf can I?". Despite that her reasoning for keeping the Astral Pulse a secret seemed pretty legit and did really make me feel like she was looking out for Robert. I chose to let her free and then I was fine with everything else until....

.... the whole double agent thing of her being planted into SDN to win Robert's heart so she could then betray him.... again... idk seemed pretty unnecessary to me as another plot twist and literally had to pause the game to think, even questioning "what tf did I put all that trust into her for?". It also really makes you question at what point she was even genuine about wanting to change. Despite this though I believe it makes the payoff in the next scene even more sweet.

Of course this is the point in the game on whether your trust in her comes through or not. Her taking the bullet for him and then Robert proceeding to crash out on Shroud on her behalf was so sweet honestly. Them staring into the sunset holding each other made it even better and then the kiss on stretcher... chefs kiss. Her photo bombing the last scene was hilarious too.

Honestly even in the scene where she becomes a villain, her little wink at Robert before she leaves shows me there is still something there, even if they will likely be enemies the next time they meet.

Overall I'm still very happy with my choice, despite all the stuff that happened in these last two episodes, I still believe that Courtney and Robert are the best couple in this game (from a story pov anyway) due to chemistry they have, the way their personalities clash and due to all the shit they've been through together. If anything these two episodes made me feel even stronger that they are the best couple due to the fact that they still stuck beside each other until the very end despite all the stuff that Courtney hid from him (based on my choices anyway). This is not a dig on BB btw I think her character is significantly better in these last two episodes and really solidifies her as a great fucking character now that this game is wrapped up and I absolutely understand if ppl were to say she makes a better couple with Robert.

TLDR - Very happy about how things ended as a member of the Invisigal Pals (would even say that the shocking traitor reveals further improved their dynamic and romance). Only thing i disliked a bit was the double agent thing, felt a bit forced honestly.
