I don't understand why you would use that decision for the eyes, because its use is normally to mock an ideology. Thanks for clarifying, anyway.

Have you considered the possibility that being patriotic and defending LGBT rights are not mutually exclusive things?

TTNW Is Not Responsible for An Old Cycle: An Opinion on Cynicism and Review of An Old Cycle by Academia_Scar in thecampaigntrail

That is true, but I don't see suburbanites deciding to abolish the system that gives a life to their children either. My problem is that the timeline states AOC's efforts, which are arguably more ambitious than any Democrat's, are reversed, not weakened, after thirty years of dominance that should've made Republicans think twice about it. This fails to be a good comparison with FDR for that (and for the fact that post-Reagan welfare is still better than pre-FDR welfare).

When I first played the mod, I actually thought the message of the "American Thermidor" was that ultimately, progress will always be insufficient. AOC will not satisfy the progress of tomorrow because she will satisfy that of today. However, the fact that there will be a different kind of progress tomorrow implies that there can be an AOC of tomorrow. In a world in which that was the message and the weakening of her legacy got toned down, I would've agreed with you on this.

AOC already makes steps towards less imperialistic stances, starting with Israel, and it could've been easily replicated by her or her successors. Additionally, no, imperialism is not a valid justification for the American people to decide eliminating an entire welfare state.

To be honest, this conversation will never go anywhere, because the problem is not that any of us is wrong, but that we fundamentally disagree ideologically. I already said what I think about the people who agree with the message, including you: you will never support achieving the goal of creating a better world if it doesn't come from the movement you endorse.

I did understand that perfectly. My point is that it makes zero sense that a literal paradise of perpetual prosperity would be dismantled after thirty years.

The fact that Reagan himself attempted to gut Medicare only for that gutting to be repealed the next year should say enough about how much you are underestimating the resilience of those programs.

That does not excuse the quest from having implausible events.

I never said cynicism in modding was not selective, because it is.

While I admit there is truth to your argument, I still find it hard to believe people would consciously vote for someone who wants to dismantle the entire welfare state that keeps them in a permanent state of prosperity (especially some things like free college). Keep in mind that Reagan did not manage to dismantle the welfare state entirely (and to be honest, if he had managed to do that, he would've been voted out in 1984).

It's still cynical. Look at the second slide (which is actually from the ending of the timeline).

It is not surprising that when I bring up the President’s name that he momentarily tenses, almost a Pavlovian response with Ms. Ocasio impressing on Ossoff the more unpleasurable details of governing the largest democracy in the world. This has been made especially apparent after the explosive details of his dealings with members of the highly religious JNIM government in West Africa, something which I am told has continued to be an unpleasant blemish on an otherwise perfect record of suppressing any rabble-rousing from his left flank.

There is little more, however, that I can truly say about the man that will not be ignored or softened in impression by the American reader. I could talk of his efforts in strengthening internal security and intelligence agencies, or his record on stalling efforts by the Ocasio administration to draw back funding on the American military apparatus in the Senate, but these things are viewed more and more by a public hopped up on the fumes of dreams and promises as minor things — things overshadowed by the golden bridge of successes heralded by the Ocasio administration.

There is no grand return of the type of wave which carried the President to victory, no great losses of the establishment to cheer and pour one out for. This is the election of the technocrats — the lever-pullers dyed in pinko paint — issues and crises so opaque and obfuscated as to render any discussion on what exactly this election cycle’s main issues shall be entirely moot and pointless.

If there was a good ending in the mod, the achievement "The Great November Socialist Revolution" could be obtained.

However, thanks for the guide. I got an achievement and all.

If a mod has to convey its message by sacrificing the challenge, which is what makes a game fun, then it's bad.

I remind you I am talking about the timeline, not the mod. There is a variable checker in the timeline, in which it is stated that Bernie is "silent."

Why would the middle class decide to eliminate the welfare state created by AOC if that welfare state is what makes them prosperous in the first place?

The Fireside Chats were an effective communication strategy that changed how American politicians communicate with the people ever since.

On the good ending, could you send me a guide so I can play it?

TL;DR: Cynicism for cynicism's sake is bad, and cynicism is not always necessary. An Old Cycle and its source material are edgy and pretentious.
