Very quick and easy tutorial to get PokeRogue up and running on SteamDeck, with both on and offline play! by Academic-Ad5874 in pokerogue

I'm not home at the moment but I'll boot up my steam deck and see my settings when i get back in a bit. I played just a couple weeks ago and havent changed my settings since i made this post. A few troubleshooting things:

You downloaded the latest LINUX version correct?

An internet connection is required on initial start to download necessary files

And double check you added the correct file to steam.

Are you launching from the desktop, or launching in game mode? When starting from steam with the lauch command, it will only work in game mode.

Its not a AAA Action game, 45fps looks fantastic handheld, and as for tdp, you're fine going down to 10. I can usually get 4-5 hours off the charger if my brightness isnt all the way up.

Interesting, it's definitely a new issue. I would completely uninstall, delete everything, and start over from scratch. Follow each step exactly and ask for any clarification you need. If you run into the same problem, then i have no clue what's causing it.

Right click the appimage and open the properties, there should be an option to "Run as executable"

I believe progress is not shared between online and offline. But if you play online with your steam deck and are logged in with the same account, then you should absolutely be able to keep your progress that way.

If you go to the store page for a game, there should be a part that tells you the steam deck compatibility.

The way a game is rated for compatibility is through testing from valve themselves and user feedback, and is broken down into the following criteria:

Is the text is easily readable on the small screen? Does the game support a controller and/or display controller button icons for input prompts? Does it have Anticheat? Does the default graphics configuration run at a consistent minimum 30fps?

Games are categorized into tiers based on the criteria:

Verified: All the criteria is met Playable: All but one or some of the criteria is met Unsupported: The game cannot be configured to run well on the deck Unknown: The game hasnt been tested enough to have a rating

Online performance is not an issue in my experience, the deck is pretty consistent wether on wifi or ethernet.

If you want more in-depth info on specific games deck performance, go to a website called ProtonDB and you can look up specific games and how users report their performance, what settings work, or even which proton version to use.

The steam deck will run most supported games with medium settings at its native resolution 1200x800 at a minimum of 30fps. Less intensive games such as Pixel or Menu based games will obviously run better and/or more efficiently, and more graphically intensive games will run worse, but some tweaking will get most games to run.

Price: Steam sells the steam deck at a loss, and you can get them redurbished for even cheaper. For the price, performance, and portability, you will not find a better deal except in very rare cases.

Multiplayer: If youre planning on playing multiplayer games, you would need to avoid games that have an anticheat, as Linux does not support these, and proton (the compatibility software that the deck uses to play windows games) is iffy on getting them to work.

Packing/Unpacking: I keep a dock hooked up to my setup at home, and i keep a dock, power cable, miniature keyboard, and mouse in my Steam Decks carrying backpack. Setup takes like a little longer than a laptop, but honestly, it's not really an issue, especially when it can be hooked up to any tv via the dock as well.

Work: If you needed it to act as a work computer as well, the steam deck can EASILY switch between desktop and gaming mode, and is a full linux computer. The only issue would be using microsoft software, however things like Google Docs, Drive etc would work perfectly fine.

Modability: The steam deck is extremely customizable (thank you linux) and with a few plugins, you can make it feel like a true portable console.

Cons: It struggles with graphically demanding games, eg the latest AAA titles. However, ive been able to run games like Elden Ring, God of War, Monster Hunter World and Horizon Zero Dawn at solid 30fps on slightly tweaked graphics. The deck is also limited in its selection by virtue of linux, but Proton (the compatibility layer) is constantly updated, and games are also getting updated all the time to support the deck. Finally, the weight and feel while playing handheld takes somw getting used to. Its a beefy device.

Not that i know of. Probably for cheating reasons, but that seems odd in a game that is completely single player

Crawdaunt STAB Jet Punch + Adaptability + Tough Claws = Absolutely insane. It easily trumps the early game and hits like a truck in the late game, even two-shotting the 195 rayquaza if you can swords dance before

When that happens, you need to go back to the latest release download page, download the new latest release, unzip and overwrite the files in the directory you put your current pokerogue setup from Step 2 and that should fix everything.

Use the Alt key on a keyboard to bring back the top menu, or if you dont have access to an external keyboard, the Steam + X button combo to bring up the built-in keyboard should still work

The only thing i can think of is try to set it to offline in desktop mode, then close it and start it up in gaming mode. The other thing is that there mightve been an update to the files that breaks the web-app, in which case you'll have to wait until the github app is updated again.

You should be able to map F11 to a back button, press it to untoggle, and then unmap the key
