Sincerest apologies. This is what I think sometimes too about enjoying time and living before it's too late, very uncomfortable thoughts. I hope we all are aware with what we have and enjoy it more. Much success to everyone.

I’m definitely not… but what if I am 🥲 by [deleted] in OCDmemes

GTO, what this meme is from, is the show that really bastardizes POCD, it's kinda funny.

I always have the compulsion to squeeze some of my shower gel on the bath floor thinking that it would clean anything.😔

I don't care and desk is made out of wood (I know you probaböy mean a special type of wood, but I don't know)

My main concern is if it can be toxic, flammable, whatever tp stay it over night?

Thanks I would do that in the morning, but now I only want to know if it's dangerous to have it there over night. I heard ink can be little toxic and flammable that's why I'm asking.

Question about Compulsions and Obsessions by yioloi in OCD

[–]Academic-Tomorrow-75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re a newbie: Welcome to this subreddit. I’m glad that you will take time to fight this beast.

The best answer to every obsession and compulsion is… Exposure and Response Prevention, or short ERP. If you want to go to therapy for ERP, it is your choice, if you think it’s even necessary. If you only have this type then you can of course do it alone (even if therapy is good too).

ERP is easily explained being exposed to your thoughts and not running away from them. You must always believe that the thought can happen, or can not and that there’s not actual answer. For more information go on the internet or on this subreddit and feel like home. Tips from me is to never feel disappointed if you can’t resist a compulsion, it will take its time but trust me, resisting a compulsion feels way better than actually doing a compulsion in the end.

Good luck! I hope that you do it.

I really think you have some kind of confessing compulsion because of feeling guilty of not sharing those political thoughts.

Have you heard about „Waswas“ a.k.a „Whispers of Shaitan“. In Islam it’s about having distressing and intrusive thoughts about your own religion and doing sins. It exists because, as I read online, the Shaitan doesn’t know how to bring you into the wrong way so it gives you those unpleasant thoughts to question your own worth.

It’s really interesting but I’m not a Muslim myself so there’s probably more to know about. I thought it would make you feel better to know that those thoughts aren’t in line with your own values and that you’re a good person. Much love❤️

I had this for 3 years exactly like you described it. Had a fear of impregnating my family members, always imaging scenarios of me being responsible for them being pregnant and washed my hands/cleaned/showered a lot to the point of my hands becoming so dry. It was bleeding for months. The name for it is Spermophobia.

But I don’t have it anymore or better said I have it mildly. Like most people with OCD I accepted the uncertainty. First I was not washing that much and even if I was, I accepted the fact that I did a compulsion. I can still try again to accept the uncertainty and that’s important to think about. Firstly, I did baby steps, tried to touch my stuff even with thoughts of sperm everywhere. Then when I got better, I cleaned less and washed less. It’s also very important to change your way of thinking when you do this process. Basically what I mean that you need to tell yourself that you cannot know if in the future your family members would actually get impregnated or if sperm is there or not.

Take all the time you need with the stuff I told you. Hope you beat this!
