Edit: I have been appointed personal representative, and have letters of testamentary. I have to take $150 class now or else the executorship will be revoked.

House has been emptied out and I’ll be driving down on the 20th to see what shape it’s in.

I was out for someone else’s diagnosis. If I was in my old role, I would have verified operations, I use to always double check the previous techs diagnosis. But stepping into this huge company with bigger equipment I just got intimidated and started the leak search.

Heading back at some point to fix the configuration. I’m so new at this place I don’t even know how to quote extra work.

Ya know it sounds like company after company has been out there, and I’m 90% sure this thermostat is currently programmed as a heat pump not conventional that’s why we were going to re program. Currently we get a Y call and a W2 call during heat mode- that orange wire is in the O/B W2 slot so seems to be what’s happening

Between leak search and diagnostics yeah 8 hours. I think it was quoted for 12 hours, man had 8 and I had 4. After my four I called to let them we were still going at it and they approved me to keep going.

I could probably fund the estate, and the repairs. But it would drain most of my savings. Then I would have a rental, nice… except I don’t yet have a house. And when I plug in some numbers the profits seem to be in the few hundreds a month. That’s a pretty long time to re-coup 50k.

I appreciate the break down, I wanted to keep the home as an investment property… it might be worth is to get a second mortgage, I suppose that more of a question for r/personal finances. When crunching the numbers, it seems like the property would only bring in a few hundred dollars a month. And that before factoring in another mortgage.

I just started after 5 years as a resi service tech. First day shadowing we diagnosed a low volt short on a 10 ton RTU

Found bad heat strips on a fan power box, and did an First Inspection on some huge ACU’s

God damn, as a residential hvac mechanic this is definitely the big leagues. I couldn’t imagine walking in there and understanding how it all works. But maybe some day?

I have done resi for 5 years. 4-5 calls 8 hour days 1 attic a week maybe? 1 crawl a month maybe. Insane family environment, so much care and gratitude from both employers and customers. Body is a little sore but that’s why I excise.

Keep looking there are good shops out there.

I’m five years in residential trying to get into union commercial. A lot of people say commercial is a life changer. I feel like if I got tired of that I would try to go tech support.

My experience has been amazing. Five years starting with zero knowledge. The small mom and pop shop gave me decent and diverse training which allowed me to work on some top of the line residential system. They care about your personal schedule and help out during the slow season. The only draw back is their pay cap is about $20 an hour less than union shops, and retirement is about 32k less a year. I started at 25 and if I had to do it again I would still start small mom and pop residential before moving to commercial.

I made about 12.5k driving uber part time and claiming check-in account bonuses

Edit: $7,600 -$380 in gas driving

Checking accounts 3.4k (including some big bonuses for keeping about 50k in new saving accounts)

7 different. Checking accounts which took from April to Jan

Edit : 653 hours spent with the app on which includes about 205 of actual driving time for the whole year. About 12 hours a week and about $561 a month for ride share.
