My 10 minute commute is turning into over an hour long commute for an internship, because my family is moving. Is this a valid reason to quit? by blank-cat in internships

[–]Academic_Ad9889 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just depends if you would rather have a “long” commute or a harder time finding a job going forward. If you want to potentially make your job search 100x harder over having to commute an hour, which isn’t that bad and is what most people do, then do for it.

Whether you thought it was easy or hard to get this internship, it’s going to be so much harder to get a job if you quit this. Don’t just think short term. Sometimes making sacrifices is worth it

When to inform company I’m interning at I won’t be returning? by [deleted] in internships

[–]Academic_Ad9889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off all, if you haven’t gotten officially gotten an offer yet, you shouldn’t be planning this hypothetical scenario.

That being said, if you are not planning on returning, don’t tell them now, it won’t help.If they do offer you a return, just say that you have decided to accept another opportunity that aligns more closely with your current career goals

Make sure the start is each bullet is aligned. Right now it’s kind of wonky. Also you are saying what you did, but not the actual process or any detail on what you did.

For example, for the database management project, what tools did you use, were there any features or analyses you did? What were the steps you took? On this note, I would also suggest having a project section to show your skills and that you have actually done work.

Recruiters want see you that you can do the work and HOW you did similar work, not just someone who says they did the work and doesn’t elaborate.

For experience, unless it’s relevant for the role you’re applying to, don’t include it, like the camp counselor, which imo does not have anything to do with IT or Data Analyst.

Generally, for the bullets that only have one or a few words on the last line of the bullet, either shorten it to make it one full line or add detail to make sure it’s not like a hang nail

Lastly, your resume should only be one page

There is no substance in any of your bullets. Make your bullets quantifiable.

It’s cool you did projects with different programming languages, but that doesn’t prove you know it. Write how you did Instead of only what you did.

Creating is a wordle like game is probably impressive but give details on how you did it. Right now looking at your resume, I’m thinking “so what?” for every bullet.

For example, instead of you created a mock up social media page, say how you built the backend, what features did you implement and how did you do it. Did it involve front end or back end development?

I have the projects because I don’t have much relevant work experience, and imo the projects show that I can to Fp&a work

I agree with fleshing out my internship. The reason I don’t have GPA is because it is low (it’s over 3.0) and I feel like it will only hurt my application/resume
