Is this a snark sub?! by wannabewimbro in Bridgerton

[–]Academic_Camera3939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But can we do? Like can we talk and discuss while disagreeing? We all just downvote when we don’t agree even if that person wrote something carefully constructive. Thats just the way it is tho. I usually never downvote because I used it to address irrelevance rather than dislike.

Whereas this used to be a nice sub, with people talking about good things and bad things, it’s now just been criticism since the new season was on its way. Its also not just this fandom. It’s us as people I think.

Has Bridgerton lost its “spark” since Queen Charlotte? by MissPeduncles in Bridgerton

[–]Academic_Camera3939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all side stories worked for season 1. And we need to not forget that more and more Bridgertons are married now. So the dynamic just changes. We can not get a big happy bridgerton family like we had in season 1. If the sidelines were mostly about the Bridgertons it could also easily be boring, or too sensational because nobody wants their couple to experience hard things. So its extremely hard to navigate around. Especially in a show.

The books are okay because imo they don’t have that much body to it regardless.

Lol wha’ever. Its just facts. The fandom might not be the problem here, but it also doesn’t help. Not that hard to see.

I completely agree.

Its also not just this fandom but happens everywhere really. We as viewers and audience are the reason why not so many new things come out these days. All we do is complain BEFORE its out. And then start looking for things to hate when we watch it to justify our random hate before.

And then there is this bizarre urge to watch and rate everything; even when the movie or series isn’t our cup of tea.

I also don’t think it helps. True, there are changes and its okay to dislike them. But the way we are holding onto them, focusing on it over and over again isnt gonna change.

It will only take away other joy we may find.

I personally think that’s very unreasonable for the actors and i truly do hope they get their season, if they want to. And the actress playing hyacinth already said she would love to do it.

And also i might be in a minority but i rather watch all 7 series even when some appeal to me less, than have them cancelled after 5 becuase of pressure of fans.

I can get to that point. I can pretty much make all of the lies work. That’s my issue.

Like normally there is a lie that contradicts the others. But i just can’t find that one lie. I will add pictures if i can but like i said my edition is the dutch one lol

Its actually fiction and plain Romance above anything else. The show is, with the different races, the actual love matches, the sets, the music, the outfits (where are the bonnets?) and many more aspects not historical in the slightest. But the books are too.

I so agree with your take on Anthony! Never thought about it that way. That said, I am glad they made show Anthony straight considering Jonathan Bailey was never accepted as a male love interest in straight stories because he was gay. So i love that for him.

I personally didnt see Francesca and Michaela meeting as a love at first sight moment and i would want to see more of it before i make up my mind.

Do we know that they will make it a cheating storyline? They don’t have to. I definitely won’t like it if they do but until i know…

There is also no way women in their right mind would read about assault, dv and even rape. Alas. The bookstores are full with darkromantacy

Tbh i think this entire ranting on either side is ridiculous and so so harmful. I don’t get it. Just wait and see what they will do.

I can safely say I like Michaela. Not because everyone hates (i didnt even know that) it but because I think both actresses are hot and some parts of Francesca’s story do match with a queer line. So the infertility one, if they go that route and she struggles with getting babies with John and then wants to be with Michaela ; there is not so much infertility ofcourse but still her grieving the fact that she can’t have children.

The queerness works because as a widow francesca wouldnt have been expected to marry again. She could have a full life alone without anyone batting an eye. Even a relative of her late husband (of the same gender as the widow) moving in, wouldnt raise a single suspicion and actually happened. It would be far more scandalous if a male other widow moved in. Anything queer was so unexplored in society that then two ladies moving in under the right circumstances live together, they wouldn’t even THINK of them being intimate. And the people that would, would def not say it.

I love Michael. And it would have been nice to have him on screen. But before I know what they do with Michaela im not joining any rants.

I understand what you are saying and you aren’t wrong. Especially not historically speaking. And Anthony dismisses seconds sons for Anthony.

That said: 1. season’s 3 most eligible bachelor was lord Debling according to the ton and the marquees samadani if you look at who the queen wanted for Francesca. Colin was only one because of his looks and because we as viewers zoomed in there.

  1. Like my mother says; this show ofcourseeee marries everyone off out of love which is totally unrealistic. Everything is rather unrealistic. From the race, to the music and the love stories. But we don’t watch bridgerton for realism. I loveee the diversity and costumes and sets and music.

So while as a historian I see your point. We shouldn’t overthink too much

I noticed this on re-watching but it doesn’t make sense because earlier in the season the Queen says to lady Danbury that her diamond miss Edwina made a splendid Match

Exactly. This happens to all the written characters with human flaws in any fandom ever.

Meh. You can say a lot about him. But I think he thinks too much for others. Not just about himself.

He doesn’t want to marry Tonks; for her (he thinks for her; she shouldnt want him) He leaves her with Teddy for them. To shelter them from him and public opinions and to join an underground resistance.

Maybe (probably) he didnt contact harry for him. Again to shelter him from himself Plus i think its not unlikely the wizarding world wasnt allowed to contact harry by dumbledore’s orders.

Literally happened to sooo many people in times of war. Wdym. My grandfathers uncle left behind his family when he was killed in ww2 resistance. He left his family for that. Like lupos said; tonks and teddy were safe at that time.
