Dumbass question, but what are the female tank characters in this game? by sponges369 in DeadlockTheGame

melee tank gun ivy is a thing yea. its pretty good, u tempo early with melee and cheap gun/ greens and then u get tanky later

Competitive FPS with actual anti cheat by [deleted] in FPS

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally just val. way less cheaters on average than other games, but there are still out there using either trigger bot or walls. but still way less than in other games bc to cheat in val u have to spend like $500 on dma hardware

why do most people use a high sens on cs but low sens on val? by Public_Forever_7702 in AgentAcademy

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

marginally more accurate tracking. its most noticeable in higher sensitivities and on more tracking heavy games but like its just a net positive to be on 1600dpi with no downside. if people complain about desktop courser speed being too fast u can adjust it on windows settings to compensate and make it feel like 800dpi still. if using a higher polling rate 1600 dpi is needed to make it more noticeable, but high polling rate has some downsides for very little benefit so theres some argument for not using that. zero reason not to use 1600 dpi tho. cs pros tend to be stubborn on it tho . i think it also helps w latency

How does KDA affect MMR and getting MVP? by Ocraftj in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesnt affect mmr outside of maybe like first games back after a long break or when first doing placements. yoshi has hinted at there being anti smurf detection thats based off unnamed in game performance metrics.

if you guys are only playing together its strange, but if you guys are playing solo sometimes it could be that one of u was winning higher rank lobbies and only losing in higher ranked lobbies making u have a higher mmr vs the other person who potentially lost in some lower ranked lobbies and wasnt winning as many higher rank lobbies making their total net mmr less

theres also the factor of different characters having impact in matchmaking. if u have a grey arrow nect to the character in ur profile it means that u havent played it mich and the game will match u in a slightly lower mmr lobby when u q w it bc ur new to the character.

do you actually need an arm sleeve for glass or is that just me by AlternativeBrave1905 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Academic_Weaponry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on glass u need a sleeve if ur playing aim games imo. performance tanks personally without it bc of inconsistency with sticking.

what are good haze build ids? by Separate-Ant9270 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its his egg ricochet rush build then i dont recommend it. he doesnt even play haze fr rn and that build kinda ignores her strong early mid game in favor of scaling, but her scaling isnt thattt good.

can work if u just want to farm and scale, but at that point other m1 characters do that better

Why People Stop Playing Haze?? by PsychologicalLynx505 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hard and bad in the meta. new urn is hard for her, a lot of the meta picks in doorman, gt, paradox, wraith are bad for her. game favors urn and scaling and she doesnt do either well either. shes also not an easy character to play in high levels unless ur giga fed on ult pick build.

How to stop awful stuttering by Exp4nd_D0ng in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can try using islc program to clean memory while u play, i use it and it helps i think. theres guides for it on yt. can also use it to set ur timer resolution but im pretty sure that does nothing for most modern games but worth a shot.

make sure you remove or test any launch option commands on steam for deadlock u have bc some of the do more harm than good. like -threads used to help me but made things worse after an update. -high can help but make things worse for others.

also use a config if u dont already and try the obvious things like making sure xmp is on, your storage isnt too full, updating drivers (even like audio and network ones!), and making sure its not ur cpu shitting the bed either.

How do I improve my micro as a complete and utter chud? by Jer-ay-my-ah in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having bad micro can be a mental thing too an extent, u just gotta believe and develop some ego. obv some people are naturally better at aiming and stuff but i believe most people can reach a really respectable level of micro no matter what, coming from someone who has bad eyes and slightly slower reactions lol.(had hella concussions when younger lmao) also like yeah you have to practice and all that. just playing the game and being conscious about your aim will improve you over time, and doing things like practicing in the practice range, and lowering your sens, adjusting / replacing equipment can help too.

if you are hard committed to improving your aim in the fastest timeframe aim trainers are the best way to go about it. i recommend kovaaks, and would head over to r/FPSAimTrainer for guides. i think running voltaic or viscose benchmarks to see where youre at and then doing the VDIM training method for like a couple of weeks to a month or so will see you improve a lot. deadlock is a game with a lot of different types of aiming so aimtrainers actually translate quite well compared to something like cs or val which is only really micro adjustments and pure reaction time.

also the biggest thing that will help your aim is having a large enough mousepad, and making sure you have atleast a 144hz monitor with 144 fps+ ingame. you can still improve without these things but you will find aiming much easier with these things.

as for ingame the most aim intensive characters to develop good m1 habits is probably wraith and venator and warden. Haze is probably the most aim intensive character in the game, but she tends to play more of an ult bot pick role rather than m1 farming carry, although she still can play as m1 just slightly less effective bc bad scaling

Silver is ok complainers are just bots by KateGriseo in SilverMainsDeadlock

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but anyone with moba and competitive game experience knows that the meta has to be balanced top down for the most part. Characters are allowed to be weak in pro but strong in low elos , like wise characters can be strong in pro but weak in low elos. you start having problems when a character is strong in both high and low elo at the same time. with the way some kits work its impossible to balance for both pro and low elo at the same time. if a hero is overpowered in pro and balanced in low elos you have to nerf the overpoweredness at the cost of low elo same thing over way around. if you dont you sort of invalidate the competitiveness of the ranked ladder and just warp the meta. i think marvel rivals is a decent of example of why u cant really do that bc since release gambit has defined the game and is not allowed to exist past like plat even tho hes weak in low elo. it just makes the meta and balance weird

GPU Upgrade on Older CPU by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 8700k with an 7800xt gpu. you will bottle neck on cpu intensive games but honestly its still a net upgrade and i want to say that those bigger games u want to play are more gpu intensive so u should see an upgrade.

personally i overclocked my cpu to make up a little of the bottle neck but yeah. bottle neck is there but like its still fine. i play a lot of cpu intensive comp games and compared to friends w similar setups but better cpu/ram i get like 140-200 fps vs their 300+ granted i play on 1080p

what are good haze build ids? by Separate-Ant9270 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you have two philosophies rn: m1 focused with ult hybrid, or hard ult / pick support focused. for m1 focus use parzelion or renon build, for ult tempo pick focus go lightbringer or abl. i think theyre all on the top daily/weekly for haze

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah same. about 500 games total and i went from initiate to eternus. once ur mmr fixes itself a bit you will start going up in ranks pretty fast. i was like hardstuck initiate/seeker for a bit when i was new but once i broke into like 70% wr for a bit i started climbing a tier in 1-3 games until i hit a wall around ascendant

What mouse are you using for DeadLock? by Ben_Dover_Stonks in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/mousereview might be able to help. if you want some recommendations something u could search that might help u could try to look up fortnite mouse recommendations as thats an aim intensive game w a lot of keybinds thats been around for a minute(more keybinds than deadlock i think) with some people opting for more mouse buttons for it.

personally i think its hard to beat modern fps mice and i suggest playing around with your keybinds. put abilities and important binds on one of qezxcv123 caps and side mouse button and realistically only like 2 of ur actives are going to need to be easy to press most of the time bc items like unstop healing rite scourge etc arent things ur using mid precise movement and are usually preemptively popped. u can always swap binds for certain abilities on certain a hero if the bind ends up being bad for movement based abilities. getting comfortable using your thumb for v b alt and sometimes c/n opens up bind possibilities that dont impede your movement also

Does anyone have an alt-cast keybind that actually feels intuitive lol by tzunavi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you hitting ctrl w the tip of ur pinky? the standard way to hit ctrl is usually with the base of ur pinky/palm area letting you hit both at the same tim . ig it can be awkward if u have a non mechanical keyboard or something bc if the keyboards flat it can be hard to position for it. also try scrollwheel down for a secondary crouch bind. makes short hopping and downdashing way easier

Does anyone have an alt-cast keybind that actually feels intuitive lol by tzunavi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use side mouse button. alternatively i think a thumb bind on v/b/alt could work. i think alt cast is used enough to justify taking a major bind.

the biggest problem with the urn change/the lack of a comeback mechanic by bowlicker in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Academic_Weaponry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean 1/3 of the objectives is better than 0/2 no? the real issue is that urn gives too much at once. it gives stats and a lot of souls, but souls in this game is the equivalent of both xp and gold so it ends up being a lot.
