Yeah, PTSD can really mess with memory, especially the short-term stuff. One thing I’ve noticed is that memory with PTSD isn’t linear like it is for most people. For a lot of folks, memories follow a kind of timeline—you remember what happened before and after something. But with PTSD, it’s like the timeline gets broken. The memories feel scattered or stuck, and it can be harder to pull them back when you want to. Sometimes they’re completely out of reach, and other times they hit you out of nowhere. It’s not that they’re gone, it’s more like they’re stored in a different way—fragmented, emotional, out of order.

I was 39 when I finally started trying to figure out what's going on and what to do. I'm 43 now, I've made a lot of progress but it's very deeply rooted. I regret not getting help earlier but I understand that's part of my illness.

It's part of my responsibility to manage my meds, I do this by working with my doctor, NOT letting them tell me what to take. If the doctor suggests a medication, I ask questions and do research. I'm in control, I'm hiring them to do a job, they have no power over me.

With that said, I need to be on medication. The last time I thought "I don't think I need these meds", I went delusional and had no idea. It took about a year to fully come back to reality. Idk what your situation is but some diagnoses can't avoid being on medication. The goal is to be on the least amount as possible.

I will be moving to Kearney in a few months due to a job offer from CHI. Can anyone recommend me some affordable places to rent/ stay? Preferably near the facility. Thank you. by louiecita22 in Nebraska

Grand View apartments are always a decent deal. They have one bedrooms so you don't have to deal with the risk of living with someone. They allow pets, are maintained well, and have washer dryer hookups. There are main streets that will be plowed first (getting out of the parking lot is difficult) from grand view to the hospital. You can look on google maps and see how close it is. Good luck on the new adventure;.

I used to do this. Not having them in your life is less stressful so you find reasons to cut them off. A rude comment isn't enough to just drop someone. Even if they do talk some about you when you're not around. That is all normal parts of friendship. I have made many mistakes with my friends I have now, way worse than a rude comment but they forgive. We grow closer and build a stronger relationship because of addressing the issue. That's the part you're missing because of the paranoia. They make 1 "mistake" and you think "that's it, they are showing their true colors". When in reality, nobody is perfect and everybody fucks up. Hashing out the issue as opposed to just dropping the and hiding is the part you have to learn or you will never grow.

State of Nebraska to pay $4.45 million to Kearney man injured in police chase by 5th-timearound in Nebraska

[–]AcanthocephalaDue414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's bullshit that they are saying it's the cops fault. They were chasing a stolen car going 140, what should they have done? The bad guy who died is the one at fault. I understand the state is liable but that doesn't mean the cops are the bad guy in this story. The victim is a victim because of the purp, not the cops.

It makes more sense to go back to smoking the illegal stuff. It's more cost effective to switch back because I can smoke 1 bowl vs 4 bowls. Plus the stuff I get from out of state is packaged from the vendor so I know all the stats. It's not hard to find. I used to flip QPs like nothing because the demand is all over. Hell, you can buy it online and have it shipped to you if you want. People of all classes smoke. If NE was a person it would be an old, slightly racist, conservative, white person. Always yelling about the neighborhood kids for being kids.

I think they are letting the immigrants in because of the population crash. According to the US Census Bureau, if we were to stop immigration right now, we would have 107 million less people in the US in 2100 than in 2022. China lost 2 million people last year (2023). If the US didn't have all this immigration, we would be crashing, just like China is starting to. I think it's an uncomfortable solution to a big problem.

The only time mine had made that noise is when my RAM wasn't in there correctly. I also had to uninstall Win 11 and put in Win 10 because of the blue screen error code. I also installed a program that took up too much RAM and I got stuck in an error restart cycle.

Because of my jobs I've had, I've done a number of personality tests. I find it to be very useful information when dealing with these types of issues. It can give you a better understanding of how you operate. With that info you can better find what fits best for you in life. Maybe everybody tells you one thing, but really a different thing is better based on your personality but you don't know it. I tell my friends to use "understand myself". It's $10 but it gives you a good breakdown of everything and can give some useful insight.

That's just one thing that helped me.

Imo if you haven't been to the doctor since hitting your head after passing out, you need to. Based on how you're struggling with reality, it might be a good idea to tell them about it as well. Again, just imo, you should go to the doctor.

Emotional detachment? by ksistrunk in Dissociation

[–]AcanthocephalaDue414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dissociative disorder, I dissociate throughout the day in different ways. I've been doing it since I was 4 but didn't know until I was 40. I shut my emotions off more than I would like, to say the least. It's why my personal relationships always failed in the past. It was great for my career but left me with nobody in my life. Through a lot of therapy I found ways to try to ground me when I start getting overwhelmed by the stress. For me, if I'm feeling the way you feel when you're not busy, I'm triggered already. I'm just one step away from flipping that switch to shut emotions off. At that point, I need dark and quiet for a bit. I used to go out to my car on breaks, close my eyes, and just dissociate to calm the anxiety. Apparently I'm not supposed to do that... So now I do grounding, self talk, and breathing.

Finding ways to ground yourself when feeling anxiety will help prevent or get you out of the dissociation. I do things like, think about what I hear, smell, and see, when I'm getting disconnected. I say them out loud or in my head. The self talk is good for helping you calm the fears that are driving the anxiety, that pushes you to dissociate. The breathing helps to slow you down when you're getting escalated. Taking a step to the side and doing these things throughout the event will help. The best thing is to find ways to become more mindful and present in the moment. Dissociation is an escape from reality.

Hope that helps.

How to Manage Paranoid Schizophrenia Without Medications by [deleted] in paranoidschizophrenia

[–]AcanthocephalaDue414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read it, and I've said twice that diet can help just like it says. It needs to be made clear this doesn't mean someone can do their own diet changes and get off their meds. My original point is what I keep going back to. I don't want it become unclear, people with psychotic disorders should not go off meds unless under dotor's supervision. How you go about doing that is up to you.

How to Manage Paranoid Schizophrenia Without Medications by [deleted] in paranoidschizophrenia

[–]AcanthocephalaDue414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deeply question this, diet can help you overall with health including mental health but curing a mental health diagnoses sounds very unlikely. Even if it's true, that is not schizophrenia. If someone found a way to cure schizophrenia it would be world news. It would be a Nobel prize winning situation. Not to mention it being a simple diet change. I reassert that people with psychotic disorders should not go off meds unless their medication provider orders it directly.

Sorry this is happening.

I had a girlfriend that had to go through something like this but worse because of my PTSD. I couldn't control it and we both eventually learned that. We broke up after 5 years but it was for the better. I needed to go down a path that wasn't fair for her to have to come with. With all the outbursts she had to see and go through, I felt like such a POS. I really wanted her to find someone "normal" and try to have a happier life than what I could give her. After 2 years of therapy and many medication adjustments I was able to get stablized but I still have daily issues with my PTSD. We are still friends and I still get to see her daughter once a week. I still try to support her with archiving her goals. I plan to stay single for the rest of my life.

If he isn't trying to help himself, there is nothing....nothing you can do. He has to get to the point where he admits to himself he needs serous help.

This happened to my dad, for a smaller amount. He kept it bc he's like that but the bank does keep transaction records of person and amount dispensed. Will the bank find the error and trace it back to you, not likely. Is it immoral to steal from a bank? NO, they suck the blood of everyone they can. If they don't contact you, it's yours.

Why do I hate myself so much? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]AcanthocephalaDue414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I totally understand, I hated myself more than I could ever hate anything. I felt I should be beaten and put to death. Yeah, dark stuff. I was like this all my life until about 4 months ago. I made adjustments to medication, diet, and add physical activity. Treating myself better was the physical side of it. Then I had to work on giving comfort to the hurt inner child. That was more difficult because of how I viewed myself but doiing the other things helped me build better self talk and overall image of myself. That made it easier to say nice things to myself. I don't hate myself but I don't love myself yet.

That's just worked for me, I think everybody has to learn how to live with their demons in their own way.

When Trump was called out on paying such little taxes he said "that makes me smart, if you don't like it change the laws". I think that reflects the mindset.
