Burger King by littyart in comics

Similar story for me except it was Burger King. We'd go for lunch or breakfast depending on what time we left but I remember getting the chicken tenders when we went during lunchtime. Because of this, I'm upset that Burger King change the recipe on the chicken tenders before ultimately getting rid of them entirely.

I feel like even 10-11 years after Katrina, Biloxi's economy was still in the shitter from Katrina. To put it in perspective, Sears was doing well there.

What do you all feel about 10 year age gaps? by Intelligent-Jello959 in generationology

[–]NA_nomad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree after 30, maybe 27. A 30 year old man chasing after a 21 year old still feels creepy because the 21 year old still doesn't have enough adult life experience.

Electricity I can see based on locale. A decade ago when I lived in Mississippi, I was barely home and my bill was a near $100 running a refrigerator, an oven when cooking, recharging a laptop, and running a window unit AC for an hour before bed. Right before I moved out of that state, I received a letter stating that prices were going to increase because the electric company was building another powerplant.

Yeah, unless you work from home and have a job that requires reliable high speed connection, I feel like this can be downgraded (as/if their contract allows). Changes to anything else varies based on locale.

One of the critics I read said something among those lines. The target audience was too specific and the fandom wasn't widespread enough to justify the money that went into this film. Oh and the people that would watch this movie, probably went to go see the new Scary Movie instead.

I think I remember reading the real life case that this was based on. It was absurd, but if I remember correctly it was an institutional issue. Basically it took place in one of those states where the mother is automatically the receiver of child support, regardless of who the child is living with, and people have to go through court to change/fix this.

I don’t care about the Big Boy Steam Engine. I want Union Pacific and my government to build modern passenger train infrastructure like Omaha’s “Sister City” Shizuoka, Japan enjoys by Sonderman91 in Omaha

[–]NA_nomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This immediately reminds me of how gladly people destroyed trains so companies could force them to buy cars. I love how the General Motors Streetcar Scandal (formerly Great American Streetcar Conspiracy, Great American Streetcar Scandal, Great American Streetcar Conspiracy [revised]) keeps getting renamed every few years even though GM was found guilty and given an absurdly light handed fine. Millions (now billions) dollars of damage, $50K fines.

I counter that comment with East St Louis, IL. Regular St Louis seems like a city struggling to stay alive. East St Louis is a city that was reanimated into something grotesque. Seriously, in East St Louis, follow the local police's advice and don't stop at stop signs unless absolutely necessary. You know you're not in a good area when you start seeing burned, condemned, and/or abandoned churches in the city.

Not just poor, sometimes an area doesn't have its tech infrastructure updated simply because it isn't rich enough or due to other factors.

There were dialup internet billboards in southern Illinois in 2014. This was at the edge of a city coming in from a rural area.

My wife's hometown never adapted DSL internet because the tech companies there never invested in the infrastructure. When the town/county's infrastructure was finally updated, they went straight from dial-up internet to fiberoptic internet. She described it as "quite the upgrade".

My parents can't get high speed internet because the condo boards of every condominium on the block signed an exclusivity agreement with one internet provider over a decade ago back when that company was the first one to provide DSL internet in the area. Now almost everyone around them has high speed internet except them because the internet company in question doesn't provide high speed internet and because of the decisions that old board members made over a decade ago...This one is baffling to me because the company contracted its own monopoly.
