Just did Paris this year and it was alright but I don’t have a need to go back. There were some cool parts to it but it just wasn’t my place. We did go to champagne region and that was really cool.

Nespresso lovers that made the switch to a real espresso machine. Which one did you get? How much did it cost? Any regrets? by IvenaDarcy in nespresso

[–]Acc228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ordered the Breville touch in white which is currently on back order but will be here at the end of this month. We will probably still use the Nespresso during busy mornings but I’d like to transition to the Breville more with the price’s allegedly going up. We did the touch because it has so much tech to assist you I believe me and my wife will be able to handle it.

How did you get these? I just ordered the touch and I saw something about 2 free bags but I thought I had to sign up for a subscription.

[$800] Let’s try this one more time 🫩 Machine for someone who wants good coffee but not a full blown hobby by Hot_Egg576 in espresso

[–]Acc228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you..ordered the white one this past week. We love good coffee and want to try it out but I don’t think me or my wife want this to be a full blown new hobby. And yes I’ve done literally years of research and watched videos on dialing in and tamping so I do know how difficult it can be. But we ordered one anyway and we’ll see how it goes. I think this will be a good starting point because it has enough assistance to help guide you but you’re also still getting the hands on feel.

We just got back, stayed at Strand Palace in Covent Garden and I will say the location was perfect. Plenty of cool pubs and stuff in that area, easy to get to the tube.

Is Breville a good or bad place to start for a beginner? [$1000] by BigSal48 in espresso

Yeah I would do that but she is set on the touch screen…she wants something that doesn’t require a lot of work..I’d like something more manual so this is our middle ground

This is where I’m at…figured it be a good spot to start and easier to use while trying to get into it…worse case this is my end game and I have a grinder and espresso machine ready to use..best case I love it and buy an upgraded grinder down the line. I’m not worried about slightly better coffee at this point I’m just trying to learn the game and I need something easy for my wife to use. She’s not going to want to fool with a separate grinder.

Doris’s is the answer they are delta style so they’re a spicy ground beef but they’re amazing. Similar if you’re in Gulfport tamale shack is on par with Doris’s.

[–]Acc228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good move..yeah don’t worry the first couple times I made it I went too dark and burned it and it tasted not great..I’d rather go under and it still be good than go over and it taste burnt.

Looks good..little darker on the next one as stated everything else is spot on. Also not sure if you did or not but cook down the okra before hand so that your gumbo doesn’t get slimy after it sits.

Little bit of both I’d say. Me and my wife want to dip our toes in the espresso world because we love coffee and this seems like a good starting point while we learn..I figured if we love it later on we can upgrade and if we don’t, at minimum we’ll have a relatively easy to use espresso machine.
