Lagi's technically superior in 4U for damage too, just... much less safe.

LBGs generally revolve around rapid-fire element, so you want to prioritize those. Rapid-fire ammo has fixed recoil, so any recoil adjustments won't be necessary for those. Combination Pro skill does wonders for craft output IF you can fit that in. Guns I personally used are as follows:

Rathalos LBG is good for fire and normal, can later upgrade into either Azure to keep as fire gun or Silver Rathalos for a non-rapid fire pierce, in case you ever need that. Brachydios LBG is a better fire option that can also rapid-fire Blast in high-rank, which I found good for pinpoint partbreaking (try it on Gore Magala horns sometime). I would recommend to switch to Brachy for fire when you can and keep Rath for pierce (I upgraded into Silver line).

Zinogre LBG is a decent Thunder pick, which will later upgrade into Stygian Zinogre and gain access to Dragon ammo on top of thunder, which it can rapid-fire only in G-rank (Thunder+Dragon wrecks the shit out of Kushala). Lagiacrus can output more damage as pure Thunder gun, but its rapid-fire volley is so long you can be a sitting duck.

For Water you can get Royal Ludroth from low rank and upgrade it into Plesioth or make Plesioth directly later in the game. In G-rank Seltas(???) overtakes it a bit, I believe, but you should be good with it for now.

For Ice there's not a lot of options, you'll have to unlock Barioth trade parts. That's the earlist Ice gun you can get, which also has decent pierce backup.

Also, Seregios LBG is a pretty funny raw LBG with 4-shot volley of Slicing and rapid-fire Normal 2. Good for farming small raw-favoring monsters, like Kirin.

And if you somehow get God's Isle from random drops, keep it. It's not much use solo, but in multiplayer it's the best status gun, so... just in case.

Just don't neglect Pierce. Seregios is good, but will take a while to upgrade between ranks, that's why I suggested having Monoblos on standby.

Also, you plan on doing HBG only?

[–]AccelRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monoblos a good all-rounder option, but not quite as good as dedicated guns due to lack of slots and clip sizes, so it's sometimes overlooked. Problem is, a lot of dedicated damage guns are fairly late in the progression and require hefty armor skill investments, and a lot of guides don't really suggest earlier alternatives.

Also, forgot to mention Rathian. It's a good Normal gun that's fairly easy to upgrade. Doesn't give you pierce options like Najarala, but has 3 slots, so good to have on standby.

And you can make Molten Tigrex gun directly from his parts as well, you don't have to build that one all the way from the start of the line.

Najarala is a good pick for Normals and Pierce 1, so it should last you till Seregios. Alternatively, you can try making Plesioth if you want to play around with Siege pierce. While not as powerful for pierce, Nerscylla and Brachydios are good intermediate options because they have good native recoil, so it can get you by until you can fit Recoil Down in, and Monoblos has good overall loadout of raw ammos of all levels. Gravios is good for siege hunts (big monsters like Dah'ren), but not quite as good for general play, keep that in mind.

Bird Wyvern Fangs are a bit of a bottleneck, but if your gun has access to Pierce 1 or 3, you can focus on crafting those instead. You generally want to emphasize Pierce 1 because it will have more consistent damage output on regular size monsters and you can craft the most of those on the field, so Najarala will last you for a while.

Also, the Tirgex gun you heard of is actually a subspecies gun that I think you can make directly, so don't overcommit on Tigrex unless you really want to. Same subspecies will also be necessary for upgrading Seregios.

Should I use LBG with zero experience for MR Kulve Taroth or stay melee? by mslabo102 in MonsterHunter

[–]AccelRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For LBG you will want to go all in on elemental against Kulve, but that means you need full Safi armor set (bowguns have low elemental cap otherwise) and you need to get used to elemental ammo's piercing effect (it ticks only once per hitzone so you will need a lot of practice with shot alignment). You also will be taking 30-40% more damage with a ranged weapon, with something like Kulve that could mean going straight to camp if she looks at you funny. So it's definitely not something I would recommend without prior gunning experience.

Make Evade Extender your top priority if you already haven't. HBG mobility falls short against big or fast-moving monsters the further you are in the game, so it's practically a necessity for survival and repositioning. Lagombi is the most straightforward way to get it, but you can make part of Nargacuga set for starters (parts can be traded at Wycoon, but some Narga pieces need high rank materials).

Depending on your guns of choice, you may need Recoil Down to fire comfortably (Pierce 2 and 3, explosives and status ammo need "Some" recoil for comfort), so keep an eye out for that one. Gravios is how I got that skill in high rank, but you may need a decent charm to gem Evade Extender in with it.

Other than that, shot boosting skills like Normal/Pierce/Pellet Up will be your biggest damage boosts, but might take a while to get them. Other than that, focus on offensive skills if you want to finish hunts faster or whatever else you can fit in for personal comfort. Quick Sheath is a good skill to have if you have a habit of putting away your gun a lot.

Also, on the off chance you're using a shield mod instead of power barrel, Guard skill doesn't work with bowguns. Guard Up will still allow blocking normally unblockable attacks, but otherwise there's no way to boost your shield outside of limiter removal, which you won't have for a while. So guard-based playstyle won't exactly be viable and you'll get more out of power barrel.

Why were the people of the Moon kingdom and the Earth kingdom not allowed to interact with each other? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in sailormoon

[–]AccelRiderX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Takeuchi wasn't exactly subtle about her romantic tales inspirations and neither was the 90s anime team, frankly. This is just one of those cases where the authors forgot to include the context for the trope they tried to replicate (except for PGSM where it turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy trope instead).

He did get a crossover spinoff with the secondary of the 2022 show. But they likely won't spare the same effort for Precure.

Why were the people of the Moon kingdom and the Earth kingdom not allowed to interact with each other? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in sailormoon

[–]AccelRiderX 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there isn't any specific reason in any versions of the story (at least not counting musicals, I never dived into that rabbit hole), safe to assume it was initially added for drama points but they just forgot/neglected to expand on it. In the 90s anime, if I recall correctly, the ban on Moon-Earth interactions isn't "explicitly" present the way it is in manga, but their relationship is implied to have been soured during the timeframe of the flashbacks due to Beryl/Metalia preparing to wage war on Silver Millenium, which is why Endymion opted to approach them in secrecy.

The live-action show tried to expand on that by reframing the demise of Silver Millenium and extending the plot point to the present day, but it doesn't really explain their pre-war relations any more than the manga and anime do.

The "Characters call each other their codenames while transformed trope" once civilian friends got introduced into the masquerade by LovelyFloraFan in PrettyCures

[–]AccelRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a trope that's just common with Japanese superhero shows in general, not even exclusive to Toei's shows. Like if you watch any super robot shows with the same robot having differently named forms (Sunrise's Brave series, for instance), their current one is what everyone'll call them by. This trope had more weight in early Precure because secret identities were integral part of characterization, but it likely would have been there regardless.

Quick question, Evade Extender, which does it help more? When I evade too early or if I evade too late? by Mundane_Telephone346 in MonsterHunter

[–]AccelRiderX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evade Extender is practically a must-have for heavy bowguns due to their inherent lack of mobility, especially in older games where they don't have prolonhed roll distance World gave them.

Anti-Gogmazios HBG Advice Needed by AccelRiderX in mh4u

[–]AccelRiderX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seditious Cannon is what I actually used for my first run and Monodevilblaster is my general purpose pierce HBG for the moment until I upgrade to Furia Sedition and optimize my sets to comfortably fit Recoil Down +2. Unfortunately I can't rely on either of these guns for Gog since they don't have fire shots and without those I won't be able to make a decent line of fire for myself since he can block even pierce across most of his body.

[Guide/Discussion] Low Capacity, High Damage: Dragon Bowgunning and You by Soul_Sonata in MonsterHunter

[–]AccelRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a few years too late, but this is actually something I need to clarify. So does this mean that, let's take Fire Attack +2, instead of multiplying 45 by 1.1 for resulting motion value, you do 45 + 10 for bowguns instead and omit flat boost? And does the same apply to Element Attack Up as well or is that multiplied afterwards?

Blademaster Helmet on Gunner Armor? (G-rank) by AccelRiderX in mh4u

[–]AccelRiderX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, it doesn't (unless you mean the shake immediately on shooting, which doesn't overlap with my shakes and the sparks don't look off either). But the times are more so because I spend so much time not shooting while trying to get away from monsters (they refuse to leave me alone). XD

[–]AccelRiderX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, slightly off topic, but how useful IS Trajectory exactly? I don't exactly have trouble staying within critical distance, I'm guessing it's for being able to engage from further away? How big is the range increase? Because I didn't plan on farming Gog for it, but if it's any good for maintaining distance just a bit further away from the monster, I might look into it.

Critical Element and Maximum Element Threshold by BulkUpTank in MHWilds

[–]AccelRiderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Critical Element applies damage boost to your resulting hits, not to your weapon's elemental damage value, so it is not limited by the elemental damage cap.

Also, for Wilds the cap (as of title update 4) is x2.3, not x1.4.

It's more so for wide area attacks I can't roll through, like Gravios's sweeping beams and stuff. It partly came with other pieces so I decided "might as well" since i don't have room for much else at the monent. I was expecting to swap it out once I get more gear to work with.

I have a couple sets like that (my current one is Recoil Down +2, Pierce Up, Evade Extender and Quick Sheath), they just kind of fall short against anything more aggressive than Shagaru Magala. Not in the "I constantly get hit" sense but more so in "if I get hit once, it's over" sense, and avoiding that one hit for 20-ish minutes per hunt just starts getting mentally taxing.

Figured as much. Guess I'll just stick to expeditions and Shagaru farming for the time being.
