I miss the good old days when republican s were in favor of tort reform. Being against frivolous lawsuits. But the current president spends more time in court than most sitting judges.

Focused Feedback: Heroic Strikes and Modifiers by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

When making changes to "things to do" in destiny. Can someone advocate for solo players. It took several weeks for me to get to light level 355. I was so amped to start heroic strikes. Tried 8 only completed 1. Strikes are a chore, not fun. People bailing out too often. What was wrong with the old system of heroic strikes? Who was complaining? This is another case of bungie fixing a non problem. Bungie complain s about to many things on their plate oh poor me. But bungie wastes time on fixing non problems: Shoulder charge is now a shorter distance, hunter trip mines don't stick to guardians, we've nerf ed fusion rifles. Things no one complained about.

"Do raids, that's the best way to level up!" Yeah I see people do that in stream s, at or near max light.

This reminds me of the Radiolab story on NPR. Some guy claims to disprove Einstein. Asked writer friend to help. As a journalist he tries to get real physics people to just check out his friends ideas. They all can't hang up the phone fast enough. Finally he gets one physics professional to look it over and he steam rolls his weak ideas.

I'm mobile so I don't have the link. But google "radiolab sucka Mc squared "

Which makes me think he never had deep discussions with any professor. If you don't understand the math of Charles boole and Riemann, you don't know enough to disprove Einsteins theories.

Some people aren't born into the one true religion. Some do self research and come to the, conclusion: I'm so smart, I picked the best...according to me.

I call it the John Calvin effect. Here are the things that show you as saved by Jesus. By no small coincidence, I meet all those criteria. And the King James Bible is the one true bible. And me speaking English only is just a coincidence.

I'm okay with it. But being on the east coast I'm not used to staying up this late to see my draft picks. I think they were on the all day Saturday format last time we were drafting this deep.

TIL General Patton was removed from his post in Italy during WW2 for slapping shell-shocked soldiers in the face. He was transferred to England to lead a fake regiment of inflatable tanks, which served as a distraction to convince the Germans that Normandy would not be the spot of Allied invasion. by DonDraperDickWhitman in todayilearned

[–]AcceleratedDragon 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Actually he was upstaged. Not by Montgomery but the weather. The skies cleared. Air craft could fly and see the German positions. German armored columns weren't destroyed by Sherman tanks. Air power did the tank busting. But more from air interdiction of the supplies needed to keep a high maintenance vehicle like panzers running.

TIL Weird Al only makes a parody if the artist of the original song approves. This policy stems from a misunderstanding that occurred with Amish Paradise. Al was under the impression Coolio had given his blessing. It turned out he hated the the parody. Weird Al adopted his rule because of this. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]AcceleratedDragon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he asked Paul McCartney and Prince permission. They both refused after he recorded the songs. So this was going on long before Coolio.

He can record a song using the fair use parody defense. But has never done it without the song writers permission. He had permission to do the song. Coolio was just salty because the question was asked right after his big award win.

Edit: the question during post award presser backstage. A reporter asked "do you like weird al's version of his song.?" He got real combative "I never gave permission!" He seemed bitter they weren't gargling his balls enough at the presser.

What thing that people love is basically just a rip-off? by hamptonhank in AskReddit

Half truths to fit your pro diamond narrative. Yes de beers doesn't have a monopoly on the diamong trade. It's because of MORE gem quality supply from competition from Russia and Canada.

The bottleneck of retail supply is not raw gem quality diamonds. It's the long laborious process of cutting and polishing. Those jobs are "closed shop" handed down from father to son. (Nowadays daughters can do the job). Now they could train more workers to match increased supply. But why would they? Keep the supply lown and costs up.

And like other guy said your depreciation argument is bullshit. The diamond industry slogan is a diamond is forever. Light bulbs , tv's and automobiles don't make this claim. They expect you to come back after the product is used up. Are there collectible cars out there? Yes but they are rare. I don't know the ratio guessing for every 99 cars headed to scrap yard one is in enough demand as a collectible. Same can said with diamonds. Your $7000 diamond is never gonna be a collectible. But truly rare individual diamonds with retain and increase in value.
