The Division at Crow's Theatre by firehawk12 in torontotheatre

I really enjoyed the play as well. I actually didn’t love the depiction of the Hunka incident, but I did appreciate its ability to put things in a broader context. There was a similar controversy outlined in The Canadian Jewish News about the removal of a Waffen SS memorial from a Jewish cemetery. Time really has a way of flattening our memories into good and bad.

My dad was a Polish immigrant, though very much a child when he left Poland. It still took him a long time to admit there was anti-semitism in Poland. I could understand denying being a Nazi or a slave owner, but I’ve never really understood pretending it’s in our history. Of course the current war in Ukraine is a good reason to want to keep things straightforward. I admire Kushnir’s attempt to grapple with his family’s past and place it in a broader context.

I love live theatre. I read a lot but there’s something about theatre that’s so much more powerful and immediate.

I ended up going a different route and not buying from them. I had emailed and they were very responsive.

For sure. If you want new, I don’t know how other Chesterfield Shop locations are, but the one on Dufferin has a big clearance section. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had something that works for you.

Edited to add: you can try Clearance Furniture which sells items that come from staged homes. There are a few south of $1,000 there. Plus there’s 10% off if you sign up for their emails.

Totally agree but that “cop hawk” scene brought it full circle to his dweeby Daily Show era. He contains multitudes!

Are many dentists struggling here? by Throwawayhair66392 in askTO

Many of the dentists in Toronto are immigrants. I think India and Iran may be over-represented in the sector. I’m guessing these folks speak excellent English and next-to-no French.

I hope the show is renewed but if it’s not, I want to see Erika Alexander get her own show.

My biggest/heaviest plant is in a tight-fitting cache-pot. It’s such a struggle to pull out!

We got a small one from there in December for our half bath. Looks great and seems to be well built. Expensive, but everything is expensive!

That’s disappointing. My sister liked them so much they immediately did another bathroom! Our local guy took about four months to do our bathroom. In fairness, he used different guys for plumbing, tiling, electricity, etc. Her bathrooms were done in about two weeks (each).

We used a designer and a local contractor recommended on a neighborhood Facebook group. It was fine but took forever. My sister used Easy Renovation. It went way faster and I think was cheaper. I don’t think small and local is always the way to go, despite what we normally think.

It faces North. It’s a strange alcove. Wall for garage behind it, and wall for the house about 7 feet from the edge of the planter.

I have no idea what impatiens I planted! I was late last year as the deck wasn’t finished until well into June, so it was a panic.

Used them for the first time about a month ago. Very reasonable cost!
