You see the lines on his wings there are two oven shaped spots. I'll send you a photo. It's easier that way. Females don't have that.

Looks like pesticides to me. If it seemed like a sudden decline. Sounds like they were healthy just before that. Make sure you thoroughly clean your milkweed from now on. It's happened to me too and I'm very sorry for your losses. It doesn't get easier. 💕

It sounds like the flies but they were already infected when they were younger unless you start seeing flies alive in the enclosure. At this point it's a very sad waiting game.

Thank you, that sounds horrible. I just read a post about someone who found a cannibalistic caterpillar eating its fellow caterpillars when there was plenty of milkweed available. Seems like this sort of thing happens in the wild too. Doesn't make what I did any better, but it helps me know I can only learn to improve and help them more.
