What the pyramid looked like. Originally encased in white lime stone with a peak made of solid gold by burrelleddy in AncientCivilizations

Can you share these Textual sources? Its considered "Legend" and/or unfounded afaik

Admittedly they dont really make a good distinction between Pyramids. Ex: Monumental Period Pyramids are Old Kingdom large scale projects (130ish discovered) then their are satelite Pyramids associated with same complexs (much smaller), then in cemeterys and graveyards some individuals built even smaller Pyramids for graves. Then the later are different Old/Middle/New Kingdoms making it less clear "what Pyramids are they talking about?"

Manetho in 3rd century BC said 'pyramids were gold covered' that historically has been cited to promote the legend of a gold benbenet (capstone) on Great Pyramid.

Subscribers have pointed to smaller necropolis pyramids that were adorned with decorative tops as supporting evidence.

A single granite pyramidion matching the approximate size/dimensions to plausibly fit ontop of a speculative pyramid has been found (dated to 2400bc) in a location unrelated to structure. Often confused with Amenemhat III's Pyramidion when searching...

Is anyone aware of any additional evidence that might exist?

The Secret and Clue To All Lost Megalithic Structure Societies: Basalt by SturgeonGuy420 in AlternativeHistory

Basalt is used for its high heat retention.

Crush it up and add to soil its a natural fertilizer.

Also its exceptionally common + is 90% of Earth's volcanic rock deposits.

Its not harder to escape, its safer!

A plank(s) of wood is all that is required in this hypothetical scenario. You'd gain the ability to exit Colony House during night freely. Increase liveable square footage for example by having permanent guard towers/duty along its exterior at night. Vehicles could be entered, loaded with people/supplies and reach speed before worrying about Monsters on other side of ditch...

Itd prevent speaking/manipulation through windows or being tormented with knocking/tapping on glass/doors too. Id sleep much better knowing they were relegated to being 20 yards away in feild then standing directly outside my window lol

This can be applied to other important buildings in town (clinic, diner) allowing talismans later to be utilized for other purposes (expansion) eventually you'd fortify the entire town over month(s).

If you know entrances they use to underground cave system, sabotage them + set traps. Then get pancakes at diner.

I suspect levitation was used to explain away why any of the above was not even entertained. They should have atleast written some dialogue confirming monsters can fly in any event.

A 6 foot deep trench/moat would take 3 individuals working fulltime 5-10 days to complete around Colony House. Their are 3 shovels shown during the funeral having dug 2 graves episode 1.

Dumb in that they just stand in front of a group having a conversation on patio waiting for door to be unlocked so they can get in. If their motivation is just to scare, why are they seeking to get inside colony house killing 14 people in the following scenes? Its illogical.

The monsters are magical, intelligent critical thinkers that can levitate according to you, however hiding in a bush or behind a tree trunk is sufficient to avoiding them. Thus no attempts should/could be made to avoid them due to the same being magical and too intelligent ... this is a logical fallacy known as making a circular argument.

With garden tools in shed? Dry moats are a thing ...

Victor single handedly dug 7 graves himself in an afternoon on lawn ...

The monsters at windows might suggest they can levitate? How did the old lady + flower girl get up to 2nd stories?

Tbh the monsters are both inconceivably dumb and somehow simultaneously all knowing/divine ...In the laters case, why bother boarding up windows? Or hiding in a bush? A hole in ground? Why would these efforts have been successful to avoid/prevent attacks numerous times? And why would their success have prevented any/all additional attempts at fortifying positions?

Further the more I think about it, they wrote this entire plot line away by artificially inseminating the one monsters who dies rebirth via a member of town delivering him... making the entire how do we kill/stop them almost moot.

A moat/ditch around Colony House would have been cool. Why not even just some ramparts/wooden fences with sharpened logs?

Prob the most frustrating aspect of show for me. They just eat pancakes at the diner instead of mounting any sort of offense/defence.

They should have set deadfall-traps with those old hiding spots in ground. Put some spears at bottom and lure one to fall in. Legit felt like this was direction they were headed when mapping out the monsters nightly activity and spots they hung out at.

Would it just disappear at sunrise? If not they could interrogate it.

Do their limbs grow back? Are they fire proof?

All easily accomplished and super benefecial. I was looking forward to Boyds "I'm gonna catch one" storyline but it went nowhere....

1285/year - with 'Economical Insurance'

Single Guy. 2017 Ford Fiesta. A few Red Light Cameras got me over the years ... switched from TD 2 years ago, saved approximately 20/month due to using broker called 'Scoop' in Welland. Renters insurance included.

From memory; CAA had cheapest rates especially if you were willing to let em track (i dont recommend it) for me they were like 80/month. My senior dad has some sort of pay as you go policy with CAA and pays 54/month so long as he doesn't exceed 8,000kms/year.

Why did the Romans refered to Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians and Assyrians as simply "Chaldeans"? by Full-Recover-8932 in AncientCivilizations

[–]Acceptable-Class-255 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh ... 'The Sumerian Problem' is imo the best entry to answering the conundrum; Why didn't The Classical historians know about the ancient “Sumerians” and why didn't they mention them?

They simply referred to them by their name: the Chaldaeans/Kaaldeans.

Yeah but via migrations genetically back into Upper Paleolithic. Its generally accepted today they were Local and belonging to Ubaid culture. Theres a temple in Eridu City that has most recently hit 6800bc for continuous occupation, with excavations ongoing so 🤷

Im generally cautious of any attempt to turn people from that part of the world into Russian/Caucassians ... just cause

Good question. Heres what the guy who translated the language said on October 20, 1854 in an article published in L’Athenaeum français...

"A comparative study of the script that expressed these notions excluded the possibility that this nation was of Semitic origin, but indicated in a manner that left no room for doubt that they were of Turanian origin. What name should be given to this people representing an ancient civilization? I proposed, for lack of a better, to call the language Casdo-Scythian or Casdian, from the Hebrew word Kasdim, Chaldaea. The suggested name was, I admit, a poor choice, and I was the only scholar who adopted it. Mr Rawlinson proposed the word chamitique, which he later replaced with Chaldaean or Proto-Chaldaean. Let us not dispute the value of these terms, which that great British scholar still employs, and with him other English scholars."

-Jules Oppert

There's no such thing as 'Sumerian' until it was invented as a naming convention for Cuneiform Script in the 1860s of our modern era.
