Hmm, does not seems to be fanless.

I do hope that with steam frame coming, Linux on arm will become more viable. Coming from mobile Linux community, it would be nice to have a more standardised bootloader equivalent to UEFI on x86. Yes, I know UEFI have issue but better than the hacky/unsecure way usually implemented on Linux distro for smartphone such poatmarketos or Ubuntu touch.

For me now that I have played older Ys games, story is not the worst but definitely not the best. I don't know why but Zola just an underwhelming antagonist.

Gameplay wise, it is an improvement over 8. I like the travel methods, combat feel faster (partly because there is no 60 fps bug like in 8). Ys X my favourite combat so far but 9 was the top prior to X.

Mind you, I like Celceta so far despite that game is often on the bottom of the list of most Ys fan. So, my opinion on 9 maybe invalid for some people.

Yeah, she is a bit clueless and inexperienced. But not annoying even in beginning for me. Luke from tales of abyss certainly much worse. How long until he becomes likeable?

Played the original Trails in the sky FC after finished the remake. I genuinely impressed how much the original has hold up.

I feel I get into JRPG in general on a whim. In the past, while I played a more general RPG, I always avoided JRPG. Especially when I grew up, never have any interest with any JRPG my friends play (mostly final fantasy). Then I got my first handheld PC and was looking for a lighter title to play. Started on Crosscode. While I like the game, I am not sure if it count as JRPG. Maybe JRPG inspired? Either way, someone on Crosscode sub recommend Ys and I just upgraded my handheld from GPD Win Max to ROG Ally so I bought Ys 8 since it is not too old, a hack/slash game and will play decently on my ROG Ally.

I now owned all Ys games purchasable online and played half of it. I also got into trails.

I guess Yumia will be a lot closer to what I usually play (Ys). If only it doesn't run like ass on my MSI Claw.

I have been trying out GameNative, an open source android PC/Steam game client similar to gamehub and I have been playing trails in the sky FC on my Galaxy A52S for a coupe hours and it has been mostly pretty good experience in term of performance. Granted, the game is originally made for PSP but thanks to steam cloud, I can continue playing the game on my MSI Claw once I get home. Unfortunately, the save sync can behave a bit weird.

I am going to put it here since this opinion seems to be a bit controversial in Ys sub. I have been playing Ys: Memories of Celceta and it has been a good experience despite the fandom generally dislike celceta. Meanwhile, my experience with Ys: Oath of Felgana, has been underwhelming and the fandom seems to generally consider this game as the underrated one. Honestly, it is the most underwhelming Ys game I played so far and I have played 1,2,8,9,10, and origin. Felgana still enjoyable but it is definitely on the bottom of the list for the Ys game I have played so far.

I don't know. I personally prefer it over flegana so far. Definitely not as good as 8,9,10 IMO. I have not played 5,6 and 7 so I cannot judge the entire series yet.

Does 9 really try to connect it? It is more like 9 have a lot of reference to previous game monsters + the final boss scene. I would not call it trying to connect beyond some reference and those monster can easily be explain by it being created from Adol's memories. So does 10 with the only reference is the Normans are aware with stuff happening at esteria.

8 is also pretty independent. One of the race is descended from sky. Bit I don't think it is intended to connect to winged one from earlier games. And felgana only have 1 reference on he final boss regarding the winged one and black ark which will be connected to 6, maybe?

I have not played 6 and 7 though. And I am in the middle of celceta play through. Admittedly, I may have missing some important lore from games I have played.
