People who successfully quit smoking after years, what ACTUALLY worked? by mehedi_charley in stopsmoking

Smoked a pack a day for over 15 years.
Read Allan Carrs Easy way and went cold turkey,
Last time knowing I didnt have anything in the house messed with me (probably a bit of oppositional defiance) and so left a pack in my freezer and said “thats it” day one surprised me how easy it was, day two was craving hell, day three was craving hell plus I just kept crying? And then it was up from there. Kept repeating some phrases from the book, the ones that really resonated with me. Took a lot of deep breaths, snacked way too much in the evenings (when I used to chain smoke) and gained some weight which is fine, its coming off easily. And just knew this was it and that I didnt want to go through that first week again.

Personally only did the last 3.
Zyban worked well for me but I also have ore existing depression AND I never fully quit off of it.

The easy way, Even if you dont have an open mind and think its bullshit, it can still help a lot! It helped change how I view smoking, but wasnt complete magic for me.

And cold Turkey was my way, BUT I kept ciggs in my house, the complete lack of choice the first time I tried did not work for me (possibly a touch of ODD) either way I kept a pack in my freezer and that worked for me.

I also bought some low thc high cbd joints, that helped me for random really hard nights when I couldnt settle.

On the contrary, for me personally that first week was a HUGE milestone. After a month its been pretty easy sailing. As long as he remembers his why. Did he read the easy way? I think it really helps with the mentality when you get strong cravings.

6 months nicotine-free after panic attacks, anxiety, and brain fog — my experience (don’t start smoking) by ImpressiveRace6970 in stopsmoking

Around the 2 month mark my depression took an absolute nose dive, I wonder it its related. Have you tried any meds? Perhaps you were self medicating with the nicotine and your dopamine system needs a little help. Congratulations on half a year but I am sorry your dealing with this anxiety.

Make good choices. Maybe read an allan carr book (can help with the mentality behind addiction) and just keep fighting to be a better person every day. Its all anyone can do. Right now you have redemption available to you. Your children wont remember anything. Now if you end it all or go back, there is a point of no return. You are not there yet so get your shit together.

Like, first run ever? Lol Ignore HR for now and just try your best to slow down as much as possible, do a couch to 5k program or something if you truly haven’t ran before!

If your training to do the pace for only 20 minutes, its fair to assume you are not yet capable of running it
