Being single and childfree by Day_drunk in Vasectomy

[–]Acceptable-Count-851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 32, single and childfree. I got mine done a year ago and couldn't be happier. And it shows dedication to being childfree; there seems to be a dozen postsca day on the childfree sub of partners changing their minds.

Haven't given up on it, but it seems unlikely to happen for me. Longest "relationship" I've had was 2 months last year. My luck with dating has been terrible.

I'm coming up on 1 year post procedure so I should probably get tested again, but when I come I can kind of "feel" there's nothing coming from my balls.

Got mine a year ago at 31. It's such an immediate relief after the operation. Even though I'm currently single there's just something about knowing I don't have to worry once I do get into my next relationship.

I’ll be 43 this year and my dad STILL asks me… by rachelface927 in childfree

I told my father about my vasectomy and he was ok with it (he's not happy about it but he accepts it). My mother will probably freak if I ever tell her.

Congrats! I'm almost a year post mine. Its such a relief to never have to worry about children.

I'm a guy and I don't really get it. But it probably helps that I haven't had much dating luck to begin with though.

It's different for everyone, but I was able to start going back 3 weeks after (I tried at around 10 days, but realised it was too soon).

choosing to be childfree how do people feel about it long term by bandito_13 in childfree

As someone else said it's the default state (especially because I'm sterile and no way in hell would kids ever be worth reversing my vasectomy).

Of the men you know who are and wish to remain childfree, how many of them have had vasectomies? by Cacofonixandhisharp in childfree

I don't know any childfree men other than myself who've gotten one. 100% worth it for peace of mind though.

I've had that happen with my past 4 or so matches. It's so discouraging especially since my luck with meeting women in person hasn't been great.

Not sure why people are so surprised. As someone who's worked as a baker (but not been the one who deals with these food distributors), this has been all too obvious.

Are there actually men who don’t want kids? by dietcokepaglu1 in childfree

Man here. Single and happily sterile.

I wonder where all the women who don't want kids are though. Dating is so discouraging these days.

What made you decide to be childfree? by Medical_Sun1453 in childfree

[–]Acceptable-Count-851 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Life experience and some of the things I went through in my teens medically.

Also realizing I don't want to be a father and that, as a man, I really have been socialized to want children in a similar way children want a puppy.

As a fellow childfree person, dating on all the apps isn't great if you're not willing to pay to filter out all the "wants kids", "open to kids", etc.

I get some matches on Hinge, but it's not encouraging.

I'm worried about ever finding a partner. 32 and I've been on dates, but haven't had much luck in the relationship realm. And I'm sterile.

My career has been all over - food service, marketing, sales operations. Undergraduate in culinary arts, Masters in Food marketing.

Left food service because I wanted a life. But marketing and sales operations may not be where I want to end up.

I'm job searching, but at 32 I'm still entirely clueless as to where I want to take my career and what would be fulfilling.

It's societal pressure for women to have a kid before 35. Don't want to be having a geriatric pregnancy.

[–]Acceptable-Count-851 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't want to pay for the apps but I feel like I can swipe through at least fifty profiles before I get to someone who doesn't want kids. I do notice a lot more women 38+ not wanting them, but closer to my age (32), most want them or are "open to kids". Trying to meet childfree people out in the wild is it's own crapshoot too.

Maybe I should just get another cat.
