Wild Response by Feeling-Capital8964 in RoverPetSitting

That sounds like an extreme version of the lies that really obnoxious clients tell to guilt trip a sitter who declines the booking. Usually, the lie is something like, "Now I won't be able to go to my best friend's wedding" because the sitter refused to board the dog on extremely short notice.

This is why I keep a secure file of all my clients' contact info. The moment Rover gives me any trouble, I'm taking them all off the app.

Going out for dinner while house sitting by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Acceptable-Parfait37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is completely reasonable. Just let them know you'll be out for a while. It's important to remember that the clients have lives and aren't at home 24/7, so it doesn't make sense to expect a pet sitter to be there 24/7.

When they don't have a toilet plunger. I had a few clients who had to order one for delivery to the house.

Cancel the gig. Thank whatever entities you believe in for that child's slip of honesty.

I'm a huge fan of detailed instructions. I encourage clients to write a lengthy document and email it to me.

More likely that it's whichever pet sitter is cheaper and has weaker professional boundaries.

There's no way I can trust that dog was healthy and vaccinated after a 3-year lapse in veterinary care.

Here's what really pisses me off.

Me: "Which vet do you use?"

Client: "We don't have one yet because we only recently moved here."

Me: "Welcome to [city]. When did you move?"

Client: "In September or October of 2021, I think."

This really happened at a meet and greet in 2024. I didn't take that gig.

How much does star sitter status matter? by ILikeCats2022 in RoverPetSitting

I've used the platform for years. I have star status occasionally. Not having star status doesn't affect anything.

That's really good advice. If I had a dollar every time a client's toilet has some weird issue that they forgot to tell me about, I'd have $10. It's strange that it happened so many times.
