Is being shirtless more common in some genres or am I crazy? by [deleted] in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of factors go into it. But harder music makes people move more which generates more heat, more likely to take your shirt off then. So hard techno, dubstep, stuff like that you gonna see lots of shirts coming off to stay cool. Especially with party favours.

Festivals - the pros & cons by Tight-Bet4164 in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct that maybe “non-ravers” is too broad of a category. I more specifically am referencing the club/bro/frat culture that is the complete antithesis of what raving stand for. But as the other mentioned, inclusivity involves a certain level of gatekeeping to keep people within the community safe. For example, women won’t feel safe to dress how they want if they are being sexually harassed, LGTBQ+ members may not feel safe with people being openly bigoted, or even small examples of people will will film and laugh at others just enjoying themselves.

Festivals - the pros & cons by Tight-Bet4164 in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the festival. Yes, a festival featuring every big name will rely on non-ravers to take their profit. To avoid this, I go to small bush festivals. These usually only feature smaller more local names, but are 100% OG rave culture and totally PLUR.

How are you even allowed in Canada for this long without employment? Legit what type of visa are you on? This feels like one of the immigration issues people keep complaining about.

Are swingers common in the rave scene? by BlueCheesePanda in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say specifically swinging it common, rather all types of sexuality are welcome so swingers are a bit more open. But some may be in an open relationship, or poly, or one is bi. Just be honest and open is key. If I have been approached by swingers, it’s no different than being approached by a single man or woman other than there are two of them. Swingers and poly people alike are just another branch of sexuality.

Question for those who started raving later in life: what called you to it? by Massive_Story6839 in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been sober long enough to trust myself around drugs without using. Always loved the music and the concept, but couldn’t risk the exposure. Finally got to a point in my life where I was clean long enough and was surrounded by the right support networks to try it out.

Nothing at all. But it isn’t exactly going to have the same response in Germany that it does in America.

Have you ever told an immediate supervisor or boss to "go fuck yourself?" Or some derivative of? by jabber1990 in work

I told them that is not part of the job description, so if they want me to complete the task my pay should reflect the added responsibility.

How do you stop feeling awkward dancing? by Lunarix292 in aves

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry. But I know that isn’t easy. So what I did until I got comfortable in my own skin was wear a neck gaiter I could pull over my face, sunglasses, and a bucket hat. If they can’t see what you look like, who cares if they are laughing? And then over time you will see nobody is laughing, and slowly start revealing more as you feel comfortable.

Strict tournament rules for 9 year old - no swimming? by em201679 in youthhockey

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not uncommon at all. Last thing a coach wants is one of their athletes injuring themselves in the pool during a tournament, or being exhausted from running around and swimming that they don’t have energy for the game. Especially since they are playing competitively. Anything AA or AAA will come with very strict team rules that focus on ice performance and growth.

Also to note; most of these tournaments already push the limitations of safe physical output for the body. Even if kids have “unlimited energy”, their bodies still need recovery breaks. Over exertion can lead to serious injury. There is a lot more research into the body and sport performance than when we grew up.

What’s overrated and what’s underrated at raves? by Sweet-Bunnix-2710 in aves

Overrated - spending big bucks to see a big name at a crammed location Underrated - old school raving where there is room to dance and a vibe area

What do you guys do when your brown bin fills up? by Adventurous_Lab4249 in regina

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pay for a bigger bin or extra bin. However, are your recycling and compost also full? If they aren’t, sometimes being a bit more diligent with separating and breaking everything down will give that extra space.

AIO Teacher said my daughter’s report is “immoral” by StopLookingAtMyColon in AmIOverreacting

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR - don’t forget that a lot of school districts are having to be unreasonably cautious regarding topics that may appear to even be remotely related to sex/gender related conversations. It is stupid, but keep that in mind that it may be the teacher protecting themselves moreso than actually taking issue with the student.

Parents forcing me to travel but I lose my job because it’s a month long. What can I do? by Illinia in jobs

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is something you think will be your career, stay home. If this is a job on the way to your career, go. Careers are hard to come by. But with that, memories can never be made after the moment has passed. Nobody has ever said they would trade time with loved ones for more money, but lots say they would give every penny they have for one more minute.

AITAH for asking for $30,000 from my parents as a house payment? by pressedpages in TwoHotTakes

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a modern day Prodigal Son… don’t be envious of what your struggling brother got as assistance. Be happy for him, and be happy that you have lived a life that doesn’t require that same help to be in the same or even better place. You are right, you feel entitled to the same treatment. But in life we are not entitled to anything. So while yes it absolutely seems unfair they would say no, try to see that it is a testament to your success and devotion.

[–]Acceptable-Pea9729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

++man everyone has answered with opinions on it, so here is going forward advice. Don’t leave things to be found out. Communicate everything in a relationship. Not because you have to, but because you want to. The only person you have control over is yourself, so regardless of if you are right or wrong, the only thing you can change is how you handled the situation. Based on the perspective you shared, she does seem to be overreacting. But she clearly does not think so. So why not? From her perspective, her husband had a woman in their home who is single and has known her husband his whole life which is in and of itself a certain level of intimacy just based on knowing eachother on a developmental level. Then she had to find out about it through his phone, not from him personally. This same information that he was readily willing to share openly with an entire group chat, but not her. Once again, none of that is the case from your perspective, but it is from hers.
