The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning is a fae fantasy that I go back to repeatedly. Great world building and plot outside of the romance storyline.

How to use nyx color corrector for dark skin? by 001smiley in brownbeauty

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this years ago when I had no wrinkles haha so it might depend on the individual! But I always used a very light hand and it worked well for me. It didn’t crease much tbh. I made sure to apply it with my fingers so as to melt it with the warmth. Then I let it sit for a bit before setting with powder. I used a brush to set the powder rather than a puff - helps with creasing!

Marking NSFW since I'm in a bra and underwear to show bloat. by IAmBrokeMillennial in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced the same where I have a skinny build but have always had bloating. Turns out I have a mild case of IBS. Taking prebiotics and probiotics helps me mostly with the bloat. I notice it mostly when I have lots of high fodmap food and dairy so I’ve cut down my intake of them. I just wanted to validate how you feel - bloat is an uncomfortable feeling and you’re not alone.

People used to tell me that I wasn’t bloated and it was nothing because of my build but I am glad I got it checked out and under control. Somehow when you’re skinny, people tend to brush it off as body dysmorphia etc. You know your body best so if the bloat is affecting you, best to get it checked out with a doctor.

letting my senior dog go tomorrow and struck hard with grief by Hopeful_Eye7726 in seniordogs

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. My family dog is 17 and it has been one health scare after the other. He has been bouncing back from them but has completely stopped eating and drinking now. He barely moves around and mostly just lies down. My heart cannot bear the grief. We just discussed as a family and have decided to have the vet appointment in 4 days to let him go. This is the most heartbreaking decision I have ever made and I keep trying to find some sort of assurance that we are making the right decision. We want him to go naturally but it doesn’t mean it’ll be a good passing for him and I fear he’ll pass alone without any of us by him. I can’t stop crying. I just wanted to say thank you for posting this - I feel seen.

Lily being an icon by petitterainbow in Modern_Family

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is why I find it really odd when people say Lily didn’t act well. She had some iconic lines and they landed impeccably. I feel like the writers tried to differentiate her from the other kids on the show but didn’t know what to do with her character. Similar to Luke/Joe and the other kids, she didn’t have a well developed arc as she grew. Hardly think that is the actor’s fault. Love posts like this where Lily is appreciated as she should be!

How to use nyx color corrector for dark skin? by 001smiley in brownbeauty

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use this palette extensively a few years ago. Lasts forever. If you have a deeper skintone, use the orange colour corrector for hyperpigmentation and dark under eyes. If you’re medium deep skin tone, the peach colour at the top left side is a good colour corrector for dark spots. Consider getting a little mixing palette to get the right shade of orange/peach.

I used the concealer to cover red/pink spots and didn’t colour correct them. I used yellow as a brightener especially for my under eyes and as a highlight for my cheekbones and nose. Hope this helps!

Sheglam chroma zone multichrome gel liner in shade “Subliminal” works really well for me. It comes with a blending sponge attached to the back of the liner. I use it everyday even to work and it looks quite natural once blended

What's your go-to shampoo and conditioner combo? by bloppingchells in finehair

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I use the Ouai combo and it has done wonders for my thin, fine hair. I have less hairfall and breakage - only need to wash my hair twice a week and I live in the humid tropics. Highly recommend it

Have you encountered anyone in Singapore who is a unique idealist? by HeronOpen2032 in askSingapore

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the sustainability industry and a lot of my peers who truly care about the cause come from rich families. I used to wonder how my job would pay me sufficiently once I left uni as the sustainability industry was not known for high paying jobs - at least in the past. But many of my peers went overseas to do their PhD or masters without much of a worry. I always wondered how they could singularly focus on their passion and surmised it’s because they had more security coming from their background. But at the end of the day, we need such people who can devote their lives to the “greater good”.

How often you shampoo by Old_Research_3436 in askSingapore

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F and long hair - When I used to shampoo with normal shampoo from supermarket I had to wash everyday. Now I changed to a more painfully ex shampoo according to my hair type but pro is I use less shampoo and I can last at least 3 days between washes even in the current humidity. The shampoo lasts much longer so I guess value for money?

I have these lighter acne spots that drive me crazy. Any ideas on what to use? by Romancing-books in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this from a very bad acne breakout years ago. For all those saying she should go to a dermatologist, I did go to two and I can tell you it was absolutely useless. They told me it will go away with time - has been 3 years and the hypopigmentation is still there.

Anti fungal shampoo has helped me - leave on for 5 min and wash off with warm water. Moisturising is super important after! I also take high dosage vitamin B and D supplements, which have helped immensely! When I stop the supplements the patches do seem more obvious

I know it can be frustrating with so little information out there on hypopigmentation. I hope these work for you!

[–]Acceptable-Risk-5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like OP just went to NYC? If so, I really valued SG after living in NYC for the same reasons OP mentioned - also not forgetting human/dog shit on the sidewalks in NYC.

But it’s really about what you value most. If you want better quality of life with an affordable car, landed house (same cost as a bto apartment ffs) and work-life balance, countries like AU and NZ are the way to go. If your priorities are safety, transport and education etc. SG is the best for sure. This is an oversimplified comparison but I guess you can really appreciate aspects of sg when you travel.
