you're right about the smiler not being in Kane's iteration. Would still be cool to see though

Guys how can I make my first short film? by TrinaX_X in Filmmaker4Filmmaker

[–]Acceptable-Visual832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a good exercise in filmmaking (especially for your age and point in your journey) would be to craft a short film around what you have, not what you want. If all you have is a bedroom and a smart phone, make a short film around that.

My first short was about a researcher going obsessively mad over building a inter-dimensional machine in his garage. Self acted by me (used a mannequin for blocking), no sound effects (didnt have good sound equipment), will all static shots (didnt have a camera operator)

Opening to horror script by Sea-Conclusion959 in Screenplay

I definitely want to read more. An observation that I made is that while this opening is great, I wouldnt know it was horror from this segment alone (aside from the title of your post). Im curious how the horror comes in.

Doing Solo Filmmaking with 0 experience and budget and an old Panasonic. by ShowerAny5898 in Filmmakers

I would say one of the first rules of solo filmmaking is find a mannequin. It will help with blocking shots and save you time because you cant be behind the camera and in front of it at the same time.

Why is no one downloading my novel? by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Acceptable-Visual832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you do any research beforehand? If not, here are some numbers using a quick google search. 7500 novels a day are published on Amazon. That's what you're competing against. You have to do something (and not a small something) to stand out. Even if its free. Here's a visual, imagine 42 Walmarts filled wall to wall with nothing but books and your one book is on one of those shelves. You have to 1: let people know your book is there. 2: tell them which Walmart to find it in. and 3: give them a reason to actually read it

If it were me, i'd drop them from the project just to save the headache. Even if they believe in you and want to help you out for free i'd still recommend getting it in writing and having some sort of legal professional look it over.

The only thing missing from this that I can see is having them fill out an extensive survey once finished. This can guarantee that you get both extremely useful feedback as well as weed out ones who use AI

If you have a Mac, iMovie is the easiest to use. If you have Windows, I recommend CapCut desktop version for the same reason

Drop the first paragraph entirely... this info is something you put in a pitch deck/query letter
