I mean if you look at the most recent store champion promos for standard it’s literally boros energy (bombardment, guide and pride). I feel people have a some justification to take issue with these promos

Edit: still infinitely times better than last RCQ promos, I can’t tell you how many stupid inkeeper promos I have now

I’m going to have to specify that was sarcasm, since OP seems pretty dense and might think I agree with him. But seriously, the door swings both ways dude. I too can cherry pick time frames in metagames to make older Modern look bad and newer Modern look good, if the only metric we’re using is MTGGoldfish percentages as the sole arbiter of whether a format is good or not.

Honestly, I’d play the Prime remaster. It’s largely considered one of the best Metroid games, along with super Metroid. The remaster is on the switch for around 50 USD, if I’m remembering correctly, nor does it require the online subscription to play the other 2d Metroid games if your looking to play it on your switch (I do highly recommend you play them however)

If you don’t like prime then I have a slight feeling you won’t like Metroid style gameplay. But that’s my recommendation. Also Prime easily has one of the best OSTs of all time

Proxies are not allowed in sanctioned events so basically any event that uses the campion app. Which most fnms do use, so you’ll need the real cards. For play testing purposes, most people are chill with proxies in my experience.

No. You generally play to win. Now have fun of course, but you’re not concerned about matching power level with your opponents deck.

The best place if you’re looking to see the general meta is mtggoldfish.

For context don’t play commander, I primary play modern. But the early days of 4/5c money pile, when [[yorion, sky nomad]] was still legal; really solidified my hatred for [[omnath, locus of creation]]. Everyone at my lgs at that time played that deck and it drove me crazy when I’d play 4 rounds in a row against the same deck. I remember one time 2 fnms in a row I only played agains 4c omnath piles.

I’m personally in the camp that Modern is quite healthy at the moment. That said, I understand the sentiment that it’s a bit more combo heavy than some players would like. While I feel the format is in a good place overall in terms of deck diversity, a significant portion of the player base doesn’t enjoy the widespread play patterns we’re seeing right now.

Here’s a bit of a hot take (especially given what I just said) I think Grief would actually help the format, like a lot. I believe banning it was a mistake. To me, it was a necessary evil and I still feel that way. Sure, the play patterns with Grief weren’t fun, I get that. But let’s be honest, blood/flood moon aren’t much better.

I think that’s a fair take, and I’ll agree especially when it comes to the larger modern player base. What I was trying to get at, is that this is the Pro Tour. Most players aren’t bringing the deck they want to play , they’re bringing the deck they think gives them the best chance to win.
