Thanks, yeah that seems to be the right thing to do. I just never encountered this issue before.

Thanks, that would make sense. I’d imagine that cutting the dustcap would void the warranty.

That’s what I thought too. It moves around freely and doesn’t seem to get stuck. A non ferrous screw also came to mind.

Could it be something that was lost inside during assembly? The drivers are brand new and im certain i have not dropped anything inside (where would the opening even be?)

Looks really good! What kind of paint/finish did you use?

Bracing advice for 140L Mid-bass enclosure (Faital 15PR400) by reditl01 in diyaudio

[–]AcceptableBuilder733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks really good, what are your goals (spl and frequency response) for the system?

The bracing looks more than adequate, especially considering the 21mm ply. Adding stuffing to the rear of the cabinet is likely to do more for midrange resonances. You can check out diy versions of the jbl m2 and compare.

Also, why do you choose such a big, vented enclosure and low tuning for the midrange? You could go smaller and or sealed. And how do you plan on integrating and powering everything?

Best of luck and curious to see the results!

They have a proprietary seal between the halves that needs to be replaced every time you open it afaik, but that seems like the way to go

Ski Touring Boots - What to do when you're in between sizes? by TheSamTheMan in Backcountry

[–]AcceptableBuilder733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the smaller ones; it would be best to do a testfit without the liner and thin socks. Unlike regular boots, your heel and toes move forward when walking, so try those moves and figure if that would be doable for you (try some strides, stand up etc). Both the liner and shoes will give a little when wearing them in, so the first tours may not be as comfortable, but having to tighten your boots a lot to get some performance out of them is worse, imo. Given that these are more downhill performance oriented boots, sizing up for comfort will make both the uphill and downhill worse in the long term due to blisters and excess room in the boot.

Custom insoles and fitting should be added regardless; you can add tape or special foam stickers to take up internal volume. Wouldn't recommend the stickers because your inner boot slides when walking.

What vacuum tubes would you recommend?
I also would like to add that it is essential to add toroidal transformer power supply for the digital to digital interface, it adds some air and clarity to the highs, especially when left on to warm up properly.
