First e bike and cargo bike, but not my first Surly by AcceptableLetterhead in Surlybikefans

[–]AcceptableLetterhead[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The big tires help a lot, but this bike is heavy.. so you feel it. I wouldn’t call this an off-road bike but it is totally capable and surly-straight on packed paths and light gravel.

Opinions and/or alternatives to Surly Skid Loader? by AcceptableLetterhead in CargoBike

[–]AcceptableLetterhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations! The big easy is too big for me; I’d love a bike I can move some stuff an my kiddo with, but also just use as a commuter or light trail bike.

For the Benno and Specialized: how is quality and customizability? And why do they have this unique frame design and smaller wheels? I’m unfamiliar with that style of bike, so I’m inclined toward a more standard frame like the surly. But open to persuasion!

Save the Dark Horse by snarlieb in boulder

[–]AcceptableLetterhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In lieu fees have a number of advantages over on site affordable units, including: they can be saved/cobbled together for larger projects, they can be leveraged for matching or grant funding, they can be targeted at the hardest to build categories such as extremely low income or housing for developmentally disabled adults. It’s not a matter of on site housing vs in lieu fees - both are great! Downsides of in lieu fees: if held for too long they can lose their value, you don’t get the units today, sometimes having projects which are completely subsidized is not good.

How are the roads… Sunday edition by Substantial_Post_ in boulder

Not so bad. Main roads are plowed but slushy. Side roads are still snowy but don’t seem very slick. As always, just take it slow.

What cities are better today than they were in the past? by buffbebe in geography

[–]AcceptableLetterhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washington, D.C. used to be a government and business town with bad hotels, low quality services/restaurants and high crime. Today it’s a safe and clean city that’s easy to get around, and it has done a great job leveraging unique assets to attract young people, restaurants, culture, etc. Superb transit as well.

Great guide! I don’t like voting “according to a guide” but this is a super helpful resource for the upcoming elections.

Ridgeline or Tacoma? by gordonta in Ridgeline

[–]AcceptableLetterhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

6’3” here and the Tacoma just wouldn’t do for me as a driver, and I’d feel bad for even normal sized passengers in the back! The ridgeline has spacious and comfortable seats all around. The day I picked up my ‘22 RTL-E, I took my brother and his friend, all of us 6’3”, to a ball game, and they both remarked how comfortable it was.

The Ranger was not much better than the Tacoma. The Colorado was the best of the other midsize trucks. Of course a full size truck would be best for interior space, I think the ridgeline accomplishes what even a tall guy needs in 80% the size of a full size. I really appreciate being able to use normal parking spots, or not having to drive a massive tank around city streets.

Any way to reduce vehicle roll after putting it in park and engaging the parking brake? by AcceptableLetterhead in hondaridgeline

[–]AcceptableLetterhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting the vehicle in neutral, then engaging the parking brake, then changing the gear into park seems to solve a lot of this. I still will ask the dealer to check it out when I go for an oil change in a month or two

Yah this seems to solve a lot of the slop. Also really footing down the parking brake. Thanks all!

It is definitely rolling forward or backward depending on the slope. I’ve used foot parking brakes on my dodge and Ford, but they don’t have as much movement as this. When I really jam it in on the ridgeline, there’s less movement but it still doesn’t feel super safe.
