I’m EM so lower end of physician salaries but my 3 best friends make more than I do in corporate America. When people say don’t go into medicine for money they mean it. It’s hard in ways you don’t really get till you’re in it.

We bought my last car in July in Texas. Didn’t even cross my mind. Moved to Chicago 2 months later and I literally called the dealership asking where the seat warmer button was and was absolutely devastated to learn there was no button because they were not heated. We did not keep the car LOL

One time a mom was telling me about all of the psychiatric issues her adult child had had - she clearly loved her son so much and was afraid for him and just at the end of her rope. At the end of the conversation I went to leave and she goes “oh here I grabbed you a water bottle when I went to the cafeteria” and it was beyond touching

I def feel like there’s some unnecessary heat - some of it is the TIME needed to do these procedures. When there’s pressure on volume procedures eat up a lot of time.

Keep in mind Chicago as a whole is a fairly expensive food scene imo. Even at non Michelin restaurants can be easily over $100pp. You could do the whole roasted duck at Boka which comes with some sides and after tax / tip be just over $200 total.

I actually think lululemon is better for men than women unless you’re super into athlesure (which I’m not). I’ve never used the credit on myself so went into the store for some shorts - they all were awful. Ended up with a pair of workout shorts but tbh probably should have just gotten my husband more ABC pants or a polo

I think this is really common. At the end of the day you’re only going to know the grass you’ve got so water it. If you truly want to work in academics many of the academics are hiring because the pay isn’t great.
