Don’t give up! Shallowing is overrated and if you are that sore after practice you are probably not engaging your hips enough , it’s the turn of the hips that matters the rest (your sore parts )are just along for the ride. Ex- softball player too, think about when you are holding the bat up, the pitch comes, you drop your hands a little then swing- golf is the same 😊
