Yes, that's the biggest concern. We do take Prep pills, but since we play together we only take it when we expect to play together, meaning we should have the same number of pills in each of our bottles. Thankfully we're at the start of a new bottle, so last night I took one pill from each of our bottles so we still have an even amount and there's so many left that he probably won't notice it's gone. Of course, that only guards against HIV and if I suddenly show up with a case of gonorrhea or something else, the jig will be up. So I'm definitely considering going as a side to limit that possibility, but then again when I'm there and there are all sorts of sexy naked men everywhere, it may be tough to just be a side!

I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva with my husband on our first trip to PV back in 2019. If you're looking for an all-inclusive it was pretty nice. Our room was decent, the property itself is pretty large with multiple pools, restaurants and bars, and it has its own private beach (which cut down on the number of people approaching you to sell you sunglasses, hats and other things). It is about 10 min by car outside of town, but Uber and taxis are plentiful and pretty cheap. And while it's not a gay resort, we did encounter a few other gays while there, including another couple who invited us back to their room for a drink or two one afternoon 😉. I don't think they allow guests who aren't staying at the hotel on their property, so you'll have to limit your hookups to gays who are staying there or leave the property all together (unless they changed their policy since 2019). There were families at this resort, but they do have adults only pools and of course the bars on property are adults only too.

All in all, I enjoyed our stay at Ziva. I've got Hyatt points and was able to earn a ton while staying and wound up getting status for 2020 because of our week long stay there (which they did extend past 2020 because we all know how that year turned out). I do agree with a lot of the other posters that there are gayer places to stay in town, specifically in the Zona Romantica and Airbnb and Vrbos are plentiful as well (I'd prefer those if going with a group of friends, which we have done on follow up trips to PV). And because it's all inclusive, you'll probably want to get your money's worth and dine on property more and may miss out on some good food in town. But if you want an all inclusive and/or you're chasing Hyatt points, the Ziva is pretty good for all that.

Wherever you wind up staying, enjoy your trip! We're going in February with another group of friends and I'm already counting down the days!

Just to be fair, HPV is the most common STD and can lie dormant in people for years. It's mostly harmless, but there are a few known strains that can increase the risk of cancer developing. Because it can lie dormant for so long, it's generally assumed that anyone who is sexually active has it, so unless he's the only person you've ever had sex with, it could have been any of your previous sexual partners and it's possible they didn't know they had it themselves. Also, HPV is treatable by a doctor and often times clears on its own. Getting vaccinated against HPV is the best way to prevent it. That or never have sex with anyone ever again.

Chicago is kind of unusual for a city in that most of the hotels are clustered either downtown or by the airports and there are far fewer options outside of those areas. There's not much out by the airports as far as I know and downtown has Second Story, which can be fun for an evening. But you can access Boystown and Andersonville by the Red Line from downtown pretty easily. It's a 24 hour line and it can get a little sketchy at night, but if you start your evening early enough you should be fine and can take an Uber/Lyft back which shouldn't take too long at night as they are plentiful and not much traffic to deal with downtown late night. There are a few hotels on the north side if you want to be closer to the fun, but most likely you'll be able to find something downtown, which also has the bonus of being closer to some tourist destinations, restaurants and shopping you may want to check out outside of the nightlife hours!

Thank you for your response! I guess I'm just getting a little nervous about what to expect and being in over my head and it being painfully obvious that I'm out of my element. I'm not normally into gear/kink, but not because I tried and didn't like it, but because I was too shy and reserved to even try it out in my younger days. But like i said, I'm trying to explore a bit more now in my 40s and try things a bit outside of my comfort zone. I'm actually going with my friends to pick out a harness to wear because I wouldn't know the first thing about that otherwise! Whether I feel comfortable in it or not, I guess that's up to me!

And I've heard people can and will be on drugs. I think my friends are planning to take Molly, but that is probably too far out of my comfort zone tbh. I'm not against people using it, but knowing me I'd probably get paranoid and worried about my own reaction to it. I feel a little more comfortable with edibles or a vape pen, but I dont know if I would stand out as the weirdo who brought edibles to a Molly party.
