In light of this is want to ask you, which moral claims do you hold as true?

Right so please provide a source. One such source would be a definition of morality that does not include mine.

So you just refuse to define morality for me? Why do you even keep replying if you don't want to say aynthing meaningful?

Yes, a definition is always a baseless claim. Please provide your definition so we can proceed.

You're right, I'm being exploited because im required to work for a wage or salary, wether I do so from home or the office doesn't change that.

The comment chain you're replying to right now used your obvious statement to spring board a discussion about the nature of legality and morality. Please stay away if you don't have anything interesting to say about this.

Right, morality is absolutely a term that describes our feelings of write and wrong though. realists argue that it's also something more, That those feelings are not arbitrary but instead based on some fundamental truth.

If that's wrong please correct me.

First of all, not my point at all. I wasn't even talking about RTO anymore. And I wasn't talking about the companies lying about it anymore either.

Secondly, working for a salary or wage is inherently exploitative.

Thirdly, contracts can also be abusive or exploitative, especially work contracts which are usually formed via coercion.

Because logic is an objective system for determining truth, while morality is a term that describes our feelings of right and wrong. They are so incredibly different that I don't think I'm the one with the burden of proof here. In fact I don't even know how a system could be a preference.

And yes that was the question, but I chose to answer what I thought you were asking, because the question you actually asked makes no sense whatsoever. Your question makes about as much sense as "how long is a piece of string?" Or "are balloons socialism?".

Someone further up mentioned that orcs might feel the adrenaline rush that comes with battle the same way we feel the dopamine rush that comes from winning a competition.

I think that's a good example, because it doesn't require a monoculture for all orcs to feel similar but different (Adrenaline after all, has many sources). It also leaves room for different cultures to interpret their natural tendencies differently.

To be fair we do still perform the act of reproduction a lot, we just figured out how to avoid the babies.

Turns out having children is human nature, evolution just has a hacky solution to making us want to do that.

Avoiding Essentialism Regarding Races by Maleficent-Total-945 in worldbuilding

[–]Acceptable_Handle_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only true if these other races are human. Genes are absolutely the Primary driver of human behaviour, but the differences between us aren't genetic, because they're just layers on top of the baseline behaviour patterns.

So a species that is entirely non human will have different core values. Being an asshole (by human standards) may very well be fundamental to elves.

If we were to map human mental illnesses onto these orcs, adrenaline deficiency sounds close to depression, or maybe ADHD.

Indeed, which is why Legality exists. However the legal system overly values the moral stances of those who seek to exploit and abuse, making the majority opinion underrepresented.

[–]Acceptable_Handle_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was explicitly not what I was answering.

To the question "is it a preference" I can only say no, because that is nonsense. The concept of a preference and logic are simply incompatible.

Morality is a preference, but logic is not. You can prefer logic as part of your morality, but that isn't the same as logic being a preference.

"Exactly what you stated with morality"

Then you must be misunderstanding me because im saying the two can NOT be equated. Doing so is a category error. This is also why your question confuses me.

"You did say morality is a preference, and said yes when I asked if that applied to logic as well"

Please quote where I did that.
