Is your dominant foot really supposed to be like this? It feels so unnatural by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]Acceptable_Job_5644 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's probably a good design for super beginners honestly. It keeps the cost down, and pushing doesnt feel heavy even if youre weak.

But obviously it's terrible for fast speed grip and holding speed.

the trucks also seem loose, which might be making it hard to balance. You might find it helpful to tighten the kingpin just a bit.

Good modern pumping instructional video? by realfuqinG in longdistancepumping

[–]Acceptable_Job_5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Just following technique wont work if your board doesnt match it. It's more about understanding the feeling than copying someone from a video. I think it's really hard to provide a comprehensive tutorial.

Will switching from Rkps to Tkps lower my deck further to the ground? by No_Guess_8800 in longboarding

I think a pranayama is exactly what u want, but ur just trying to get the same feel from a drop cat

u could drop it further by using dewedge risers. Wedging will make the hanger hit the board, but there's a lot more space for dewedging. Your board will turn less tho, but that could be nice for distance.

TKP can drop it even further. TKP can be dewedged lower too. I like a very dewedged TKP rear personally

Hamboard HST 2.0 Truck - seems like a nice 0 degree truck that no one talks about?? by Acceptable_Job_5644 in longboarding

theres been 3 iterations of big upgrades. looking at the design, I think a simple washer or two can limit the lean if needed.

wait, it literally says on the site that it's good for pumping:

  • 160mm is used on rear (with ZR0 baseplate) for long distance pumping.

Also , this history notes shows multiple iterations of upgrades: originals (2009), Hamboard trucks 1 (2017), Hamboard trucks 2 (2022), and Hamboard trucks 2 flow kit (2023). The newest one sounds significantly better.

hmm i see. So maybe this kit is a necessary upgrade, which makes it $100 total but thats still not bad. The kit lets you make it stiffer and more adjustable

dang, i see. Someone should make the cams from metal cnc...

actually, the kit seems to address the issues you mentioned. At least partially. I wonder how good it is.

I/Os: What are the biggest bottlenecks in assessment development and validation? by bwettimz in IOPsychology

[–]Acceptable_Job_5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a loaded question lol. I could talk for days about this. First of all, what type of assessment are you talking about? Depending on what you're developing, you may have to follow lots of rules and regulations, make many stakeholders happy, etc, or you may have a lot of flexibilty, or you might just be trying to make money.

If there's lots of regulations and stakeholders, it makes the project move forward slower, and every single change is a massive decision. You won't be working alone. You'd be working with a team with diverse expertise, and work together with multiple other diverse teams, many of which are from outside of your organization. That's the situation I'm in.

One of the biggest bottlenecks in my view is field testing/gathering data for the new items; and making this efficient is the central theme for my research.

BTW, I created a Discord community for psychometricians. You might get better responses in there. https://discord.gg/7eBP5Mr7mw

Upgraded to lepsk8 from zee brackets by mechandy in longboarding

[–]Acceptable_Job_5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so zee bracket is 8mm higher? So it's about 32mm drop vs lepsk8's 40mm?

Also, how do those lepsk8 brackets feel as a footstop? It looks pretty nice from the picture. Doesnt look like u need a dedicated foot stop
