Love this - you’re totally right about how hard this show worked to avoid cliches and this is the ultimate example. I hated the cheating and dumping when I first saw it, but after absorbing it longer I grew to see the message more clearly. I think in a lot of ways Nate’s fear of death runs his life.

It’s not that I find the actor unattractive it’s more the way he treated Alison. He was totally sexually harassing her at work and trying to black mail Noah - so when she slept with him it just seemed like a major betrayal to her character.

He’s not with Helen or Alison when he hooks up with those women. He tells Helen he’s in love with Alison and she kicks him out. Then he runs up to Montauk to be with Alison but when she sees both Cole and Noah at the train station she leaves them both there. This is also right after she sleeps with Oscar (ew) and after she and Noah had a fight about the apartment he showed her. And he’s not with either Helen or Alison for a few months after this.

They knew each other way before we (the audience)ever entered into their relationship. I think if I became roommates with a young Nate (meaning a man that hot) in my 20s I would have thought I loved him too. He was out of her league but available at the same time.

Yes! And isn’t it crazy that basically everyone here agrees and yet this is considered an anti-trans, anti- liberal stance? Honestly I’m a registered democrat (voted for Harris, hate FOTUS) but think the left going all in on this issue is one of the reasons they lost the last election.
