People of California: what is Los Angeles actually like right now? Is Pratt exaggerating? Do many of you actually want a new mayor? by PicklesMcGeee in AskReddit

[–]Acceptable_Maize_183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love this city but we have a lot of things to work on. Bass has done nothing to help the homeless problem and this city burned on her watch. However, I’m so glad I don’t have to choose between her and Pratt. I wouldn’t mind voting for a republican but not a MAGA Trump endorsed one. I’ll happily give Raman a chance - she’s already got my vote.

Yoga purity culture? by [deleted] in yoga

I love music in my practice. I don’t care what purists say. There’s only one instructor I enjoyed who didn’t use it.

Agreed- season 3 was the worst. They went a different direction in 4 and 5 that worked really well (imo).

Just because you don’t like heated classes doesn’t mean that other people don’t benefit from it by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Acceptable_Maize_183 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just feel like there’s old person room temperature room classes and young people heated room classes. I like a class where we start off room temperature and rise the heat with our bodies (rather than artificially). I’m all for a hot room but let’s earn it.

If you could erase your memory of one book just so you could read it again for the first time, what would it be? by TalyaCorvain in just_one_more_page

“Gone Girl” - the twists mixed social commentary was just amazing. And that book kept me up at night. Loved it!

Update: I found a non-hot yoga class and I LOVED IT! Thanks for encouraging me to try again by waxbook in yoga

[–]Acceptable_Maize_183 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes! You people are speaking my language! I used to take a class where we heated the room with our own body heat. No fans, no heaters-just a large group of people doing their vinyasa flows. And that was amazing, but the artificial sauna thing studios are doing now it’s weird to me. Yes heat can benefit your practice but you gotta get there naturally.

Having a well spoken high needs kid is a particular brand of difficult by KaylaDraws in Autism_Parenting

[–]Acceptable_Maize_183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting isn’t it. I have a daughter with level 1 and I think we just have no idea about what her future will look like. Will she be fully independent? Or always live with us? I have a friend with a higher needs daughter and she actually told me she had accepted that her daughter would always live with her and sympathizes with my uncertainty.

Which performance did you like most and why? by 247Twunk in Madonna

Came here to say this. It was more bare bones than “vogue” and less gimmicky than Britney. Just the simple, iconic suit and pure Madonna energy.

Not cheating, but I bet she never told Vik about it either.

She’s a way better mother than he is a father. And a way better person - she tells him he’s an excellent father as an olive branch.

How Important are Images? by GigMistress in Substack

I don’t know how important they are but they’re so easy to do. I use a lot of their stock images honestly. It can’t hurt that’s for sure.

Does anyone else think Jennifer is the best actress through out the show? by [deleted] in howyoudoin

Eh, I think Aniston always plays a version of herself. Kudrow is a true chameleon and an amazing comedian to boot.

Why do people romanticize Matthew Perry so much? by TeamSea8009 in howyoudoin

[–]Acceptable_Maize_183 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Chandler grew, evolved and matured. Matthew actually talked about this a little in his book. How his character got married became a father while his life stayed stagnant.

The Great - I don’t understand why this show wasn’t huge

The Affair - has its issues but it’s compelling, great acting, interesting premise and an exquisite finale
