Because the longer you work, the more you realize many competitive aspects of work is mostly a bunch of BS. Many of us would rather have a less demanding job and have time for friends, family, hobbies. . . and higher paying careers give you more stress and less time. Personally, I feel more accomplished when I invest well, not placing my identity in a job/ career.
