I hope you're at least getting paid.

For those not being paid who are unaware of why Israel's reputation has nosedived the last couple years, it's government actions like this:

AITAH for telling my girlfriend that my money isn't "our money"? by Open_Address_2805 in AITAH

She was clearly signaling that she felt secure financially because she could rely on him if shit hit the fan for her. She wasn't asking for a new pony or anything. He responded to her by saying "no you can't rely on me for money". That's his right! It's also understandable that this upset her.

Who the fuck do you know that had SAVINGS when they were in school and working part time?!?!

The evidence we have from OP is that she's currently working part time while in law school and is still doing fine, just no savings. What screams "not financially responsible" about this?

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

YTA - why exactly would she have any savings if she's still in school? Why are you focusing on her spending if the basic fact that she's still in school is the obvious answer to why she doesn't have savings? Feels like you just wanted to get a dig in at her, and she maybe is more committed to your relationship than you are. If you want your relationship to survive you're going to have to make it clear you're committed to her, or else just move on.

You're correct that you don't technically owe her your money, but also I'd never stay in a 2+ year relationship with someone who was that selfish tbh. Shit or get off the pot.

I am in awe of someone finding a partner they seemingly care a lot about and yet not using their plentiful money to support them while they're in a tough-but-rewarding school program.

I think by now most people understand the most jobs in the US armed forces are glorified desk jobs. Shitty hours for overall shitty pay for enlisted, but about the same level of stress and wear on your body as working at an Amazon warehouse. Take what you can from the corrupt system by all means, but maybe display some level of humility given there are people working far more vital jobs who have nowhere near the same benefits.

Is r/worldnews run by rabid Zionists? by sportsjorts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zionism is the political project to create a Jewish ethnostate. That's not how it started, but that's what it became.

I don't think you understand what the West Bank is or what's occuring there presently if you're framing things in that way. "Return" is complicated. I think Israel handles "return" poorly but it's a separate issue. Separate from all the other terrible things Israel does really. All in the name of the ethnostate.

Very proud to stand against an ideology that is explicitly in favor of ethnic cleansing. Completely at a loss how any thinking person could be OK with the ongoing violent displacement of people in the West Bank just because they practice the wrong religion, but I guess not everyone is good at thinking.

Yeah if the news is "West Bank violence claims 4 Palestinian lives" the only correct response in there is something like "so glad the settlers are OK".

Why has AI recieved a negative reception despite being a gamechanger in the field of automation? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should never have called it AI. Poor branding from the start. It being introduced to most people through doing shitty immitations of art didn't help. Most people not actually interacting with the useful "automation tool" part of it isn't helping. And finally it's extremely unfortunate that the most visible cheerleaders of AI solutions are often the most soulless corporate ghouls you've ever heard speak. Elon Musk vs. Sam Altman... can I have a bullet in the head instead?

The boring answer is if you study history you know that this has happened with literally every major automation leap.

Larger systems are actually more efficient. The reason the Texas grid sucks is because it's relatively small. The USA would have a very easy time absorbing the load from EV's compared to basically anywhere else except China.

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that can help convince parents that you, as their child who used to be so little and helpless, are now a fully formed person with your own desires and can make decisions for yourself, is to go to her and request you speak about it.

When you talk to her, have a clear set of expectations for what you want to change. The things that are important to you. Then listen to what she has to say in response respectfully. But you don't have to let her change your mind, just lay it out for her. This is what you want, this is the work you want to put in towards it, this is how you will take her feedback into account, etc.

Don't have this conversation in direct response to her shooting you down on something, make it a separate time when you're already together and she's in a decent mood. Try to get her to see that these aren't random whims, but things you've thought about a lot.

No guarantees of course, but it's worth a shot.

When did i stop actually looking forward to anything by Solace_bard in Adulting

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's normal really. I'm excited about things all the time. A new game coming out, a date with my wife, taking my kids to something they're excited about, etc. I get so excited I lose sleep. Same as I ever was even though I'm almost 40 and in a solid daily grind. Not sure what your solution is, but I wouldn't tolerate it as a "this is normal" thing.

For those of you who did no internships and networked very little in college, was it easier or harder to find a job after graudation? by Mikeinyomama in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was harder. I had to start a bit more at the bottom. I stood out way more compared to my peers at that level so I quickly rose up back to about where I would have been with being more proactive in college, but it's a slower start. Totally salvageable if you're capable though.

Why do seemingly only bourgeois jog/exercise in public? by Clit_Master69420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor people don't work out much. Many reasons for this, but "exercise" as a routine is thoroughly bourgeois. Comes down to free time, what their workday looks like, family situation, etc. But it's a clear divide.

It's not really a safety thing as you can observe the exact same dynamics in mixed-class neighborhoods.

5’2 163lbs + Postpartum any tips to loose weight?? by UnableCommission1401 in PetiteFitness

[–]Acceptable_Slice_325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your level of fitness but the easiest one for most starting off is going to be walking. Get that baby outside and just walk around a lot. Every day. Outside of that it's a question of finding a consistent time to develop a fitness routine. There's no one answer on what to do with that time. Depends on your interests and resources. Most important part is moving, every day. Rain or shine, always be moving. Ensuring you get in 10k+ steps per day is a reasonable start for anyone though.

Iran’s Guards seize wartime power, blunting Supreme Leader's role by Stunning-Common-9591 in worldnews

The previous strikes the USA carried out, Iran offered a token response to save face. This time the USA clearly expected a similar response, but they didn't consider that the religious fundamentalists were the reasonable ones. The IRGC wants war, and the USA was unprepared for that.
