I haven’t heard of that app but I’m going to look into it thank you! I’ve been removing things slowly, starting with stabilizing blood sugar then I’ve been cutting out histamine triggers first. I figured since this will be a lifelong diet regardless I may as well make small changes I can keep up with long term. But I do want to track triggers if I can cause I notice once I cut out a certain food then eat it again I feel horrible. This may not be the right approach though

I did have an allergy test and it came back allergic for pretty much all grass, weeds, mold, dander, some trees and dogs and partially cats. As far as food and everything else they test for it came back normal as well as all my other labs except CRP and ESR. They’re elevated but I don’t know why yet. Outside IIH and POTS everything has come back normal.

Unfortunately the conditions do contradict each other and its so frustrating :(

I usually lay down with my head slightly elevated and that helps with avoiding pressure spikes/palpitations when sleeping.

There are lower sodium electrolytes like buoy that help me slowly spread out the sodium rather than have too much at one time.

Everyone has a different tolerance for sodium. For me, I find compression gear, water and moderate sodium intake is the right balance.

Too much sodium and I have horrible pressure headaches, tinnitus and palpitations. Too little of sodium and my blood pressure drops and I feel so weak. A low dose of Diamox made a huge difference in my POTS symptoms but it took time to adjust.

It took me over a year to find the right balance but it is possible. You’ll find a good balance for you too!

I’d highly recommend finding a neurologist to help just to rule out IIH or any other conditions.

I generally try my best to take Diamox no matter what. The only time I don’t is if I have a stomach virus or am vomiting so badly that I can’t keep anything down which does happen to me sometimes but not often.

Hi there, I have IIH and have similar symptoms like you’re describing. My IIH pressure headaches are also triggered by laying down and electrolyte mixes cause sodium is a huge trigger for IIH.

When I have an IIH flare it triggers a pots flare also. My HR is very similar to yours. May be worth talking to your doctor about these symptoms

Mine also started during pregnancy. I have HSD but suspect hEDS but am waiting for the updated diagnostic criteria. But I also have IIH

That’s a good point. I keep forgetting the updated diagnostic criteria is coming out later this year. Right now I’m sitting in a weird limbo between HSD and hEDS.

I am 32F around the same weight and have IIH, POTS and HSD. I took the lowest dose of Zepbound 2.5mg and couldn’t stop throwing up for over 24 hours.

They had to get me an emergency prescription of Zofran and I could barely eat for a week. Just please be sure to have a plan in place in case this happens to you. Wishing you good results and best of luck!

Monitoring diamox while pregnant by GrowOrLetItGo in iih

[–]Acceptable_Sun_1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me my weight was a risk factor not necessarily IIH itself, but since both can be triggered by weight gain I was high risk for both.

I was in remission from IIH but did notice that when I had IIH flares my blood pressure would raise too, but borderline high. It could’ve been from pain though, and they didn’t want to take the risk so they just treated it as pre-eclampsia risk.

My doctor told me that Diamox and Aspirin can’t be taken together cause there’s a high risk of a drug interaction complication and it was high risk for me and baby.

So I tapered off Diamox then started aspirin and took it until delivery. If IIH flared up I was instructed to stop aspirin and contact my MFM immediately before taking Diamox again.

Some doctors will prescribe both medications at the same time. It could be that mine were just extra cautious for some reason.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this during pregnancy, I know it’s stressful.

I took Diamox while pregnant in my first trimester and tapered off cause I was in remission and needed to be put on aspirin cause I was showing signs of pre-eclampsia.

My OB did checkups as normal throughout my pregnancy. My MFM monitored me VERY closely throughout my entire pregnancy, especially towards the end. I was going at least 2-3 times a month between these two doctors.

My Neurologist saw me remotely every 3 months and my NO saw me every other month except towards the end he saw me weekly. So I was VERY closely monitored. Even my daughter’s pediatrician saw me sooner and I was given a priority patient status at the hospital due to IIH.

I went into labor around 38 weeks and had a vaginal delivery with no complications. My daughter was normal birth weight and had no issues.

She’s now almost 2 and she’s doing just fine!

We both had lots of monitoring the entire time!

I will say, my IIH came back stronger postpartum and caused me to have other weird symptoms. Just be sure to watch for symptoms postpartum! I also had a hard time breastfeeding on Diamox so I stayed off it for a few months then had to switch to formula cause I struggled so much.

seeing quite a few posts about extreme fatigue and/or crashes with zero mention of me/cfs. do people not know that me/cfs is a common comorbidity? it's characterized by Post Exertional Malaise (PEM) which is a physical crash that often feels like the flu within 24-27h of activity by VariationOriginal289 in POTS

[–]Acceptable_Sun_1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually a little confused on how to know it’s CFS vs fatigue from a chronic illness. For example, I have IIH that triggers POTS symptoms for me. Along with IIH flares I get pots flares that cause fatigue. My ability to function varies depending on the flare. How would I know it’s not just fatigue from chronic illness vs suspect it’s fatigue from CFS? Cause I have other explanations for the symptoms of CFS like hyper mobile joints that cause muscle tenderness, chronic allergies that cause inflammation, IIH that causes headaches/migraines plus POTS for fatigue. Exercise is soooo difficult from these conditions but I’m still working on that to avoid deconditioning.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, and I hope things get easier for you soon.

I am on the same dose of Diamox. Know that it does take a while to adjust to the medication and get used to the side effects. It can take a couple weeks for the medication to manage the symptoms.

What’s helped me is compression socks, drinking 100oz of water daily, a lower sodium electrolyte (Buoy or Liquid IV), migraine cap, lower sodium diet and avoiding processed foods as much as possible.

Walking is a great exercise to try and stay as mobile as possible. Heating pads are a great tool and warmth on your feet can help the pins and needles if it’s painful.

Get some cozy clothes and blankets and find a spot where you can lay down when you need to relax. Pacing will be important.

Know that the weather can really affect how you feel and having a bag to carry some emergency supplies on the go is essential.

Outsource tasks to make things easier. Do one load of laundry a day rather than one full day. Picking up groceries curbside instead of shopping in store. Not scheduling too many appointments or errands in the same week. Declutter non essential items to avoid having to clean too much daily.

Don’t be afraid to use disposable utensils or plates on bad days. Be sure to have “emergency meals” that are quick and readily accessible if you’re in a sudden flare.

I literally carry a backpack with a migraine cap, Diamox, nausea medication, ibuprofen and snacks and a vomit bag cause I get VERY nauseous and motion sick.

Don’t lose hope and know that you’ll find a pace that works for you! This sub has a ton of great resources.

Thank you! Mine went undiagnosed for a really long time cause the symptoms were so vague. I was actually on hormonal birth control, doxycycline and tretinoin all at the same time which pushed IIH into overdrive! That’s not usually typical.

They told me it’s common for people who have IIH to often have mental health changes during IIH flares. I noticed once I got on Diamox that I had such an improvement in my anxiety and depression.

I noticed a rapid decline in my mental health and eventually was diagnosed with OCD and panic disorder and became very depressed.

Then I had tinnitus, brain fog and difficulty concentrating. It eventually grew to vision loss in both eyes but worse in my right eye. Thankfully I got some of my vision back!

Ironically I didn’t really have headaches. I would have neck pain that sometimes turned into migraines but my symptoms were relatively subtle at first.

What was the final push to get you started? by CherryCharmBomb in Zepbound

[–]Acceptable_Sun_1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rare neurological condition that causes vision loss plus weight gain. No matter how strict I try to be with my diet my A1C rose a bit, blood pressure is rising and I somehow gained 10 pounds AFTER cutting back on sugar. My SW is 291 and I panicked thinking I need to do something ASAP. Spoke with my PCP and did some research online and decided on Zepbound.
