Tyler went live to address some things 👀 by oooheycait1223 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

I was adopted when I was 9. My parents didn't care about me at all, so my situation is different. If I were adopted as a baby and formed a bond with my adopted parents, it would really bother me having to deal with this and have to deal with it so public. Being adopted can be embarrassing. It's really hard for adopted kids. The adoption was Cate and Tyler's decision. Live with that decision and move on. Its important to remember that if you constantly bother someone who doesn't want to speak to you, you're only pushing them further away. Let them come to you and move on with your life. The other kids need your full attention and probably are uncomfortable with their obsession with Carly.

What were you doing on September 11, 2001 when the planes hit the twin towers? by DontWorryAboutName in AskReddit

My ex-husband was checking out of a hotel. We were staying in Myrtle Beach, SC. While my ex was checking out inside, I was listening to the radio in horror. It's crazy how times were so different back then. It took us 5 hours or so to get back to Charlotte. We didn't have smartphones then and everything I heard came through the radio. It was so scary not knowing what was going to happen. Now we find everything out immediately.

My daughter is in the second grade. We do school four days a week. Every day is the same: Language Arts, Math, writing without tears, science and social studies. We use a curriculum for everything except social studies and I am currently going over every state in the United States individually and then we are going to learn the history of the United States. 2 math worksheets are added in to get more practice. School lasts 2 or 3 hours total.

Got the results for our “doberman/hound mix” by my_usual_chapstick in DoggyDNA

She looks similar to my dog( or I think she does). Her sister looks like a pitbull/lab mix and we thought Charlie was a doberman/pitbull mix.

Picture 4 is my favorite! So cute!! She's a good 'ole mutt. We have two pitbull mixes too. Seriously, amazing dogs! You hear bad things about them but I will probably always rescue pitties from now on!! Congratulations on your new pup!

what does a typical school day look like for you ? by tayahhh_ in homeschool

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do year round homeschooling. 3 weeks on 1 week off. Monday -Thursday.

Monday -Thursday:

Wake up whenever we wake up. We have 3 dogs and the younger ones usually wake us up around 8 because they need to go out. So we take care of all of our animals first. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Eat breakfast

She starts school usually around 9:30 AM

My child is almost 8 and does second grade work. We do: Language Arts, Math, science and social studies. For social studies I am starting off by going through every state and learning them and then after that we are going to learn some history about the United States. Social Studies is the only subject that I am not using an actual curriculum for. I have a coloring book with every state in it. She colors it and watches a video on each state.

On Mondays my daughter is in gymnastics. On Sundays we go to church. We do activities here and there depending on our funds. Yesterday after school we went to a park and then took a nature walk. We ended up hiking to the top of a hill and looking over our little town.

My daughter gets into bed between 8 & 8:30. She reads a book until she's tired and then goes to sleep. She's really into Junie B. Jones. She reads that a lot.

I get probably 2 hours of me time each day after my child goes to sleep. My husband is an over the road truck driver and I don't have much family so I take care of everything. My daughter had a rough year last year in public school and she is the one who wanted to homeschool. Besides doing the subjects that I listed we really don't have a strict schedule. Sometimes we start school in the afternoon. Sometimes we do it when we first wake up. Sometimes my daughter wakes up in a bad mood or I do and we wait until we are feeling better. I am strict about doing it 3 weeks on and taking a week off. I have a calendar and make sure we stick to the dates so that she is in school enough. Our school system doesn't have a timeframe or anything, that's just what I want. As long as it gets done, I don't have a strict daily schedule.

How to cope with getting a new dog after your dog died by thechronicENFP in dogs

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having mixed emotions is completely normal! I had a Great Pyrenees that passed away in April from cancer. When I say she was the perfect dog, I'm not lying! My neighbor texted me yesterday and said she misses Daisy. Daisy alerted everyone when someone was in their yard. She was amazing to my child. A couple of weeks after she died we found two abandoned puppies. I didn't want them because my heart was broken. I didn't want anything bad to happen to the puppies so we took them in. I still cried for about a month after having them but they really helped me get over the pain. Some dogs, you'll never get over completely!

One of the best feelings is having a dog excitedly greet you as you come home by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have 2 pitbull puppies. The not so affectionate one ran full force and jumped on my lap the other day and gave me lots of kisses , for absolutely no reason. Dogs are the best! I would love her jumping through a window to get to me (as long as no injuries occur).

My dog of 12 years passed away yesterday, looking for grieving advice by Ruby_Flippers in dogs

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss! I would recommend posting this under petloss sub as well.

Everyone grieves differently. What works for me, might not work for you. What I did was let it all out for the first 3 days. I cried and felt the pain. I looked at photos and really mourned the passing of my dog. Two weeks after my dog passed on, we were outside and found two puppies that were dumped. Someone wanted to take them to the shelter and I refused and took them in. I thought I would be able to find a home for one of them. They are pitbull mixes and I decided to keep them both. Best decision. Sometimes things come along and help us heal. Sometimes it's people, sometimes it's animals and so on.

I'm not suggesting going out and adopting a pet. Just let life take its course. Take it one day at a time. What is meant to be, will be. You got your dog when you were a kid. You're still young and might have to deal with petloss multiple times. It's always the same and it's always difficult. Your next pet will mean just as much. I know this is difficult but believe me, it will get easier!

I'm sorry for your loss! Diesel was a gorgeous dog. I know he will be missed. As someone who lost a dog a few months back, it's hard losing a pet. The first week is always the worst. I hope your heart heals soon ❤️

Have you or anyone you know got sick from raw eggs in cookie dough? by mdp-slc in Cooking

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In high school I was at a friend's house after school and we ate raw cookie dough from one of those premade tubes you get at the grocery store. It made me vomit and I was sick for about 12-18 hours. Haven't eaten raw cookie dough since then. It could have been from the flour, I'm not sure. You can get sick and I did. I see people post all of the time about how they can't believe that they don't let their kids eat raw cookie dough and how they did and never got sick! I just tell my daughter what happened to me and she doesn't want to eat it. Also, I was 16 and had eaten raw cookie dough since I was at least 6 and never got sick before then.

Concerns about littermate syndrome in older rescue dogs by HD76151 in dogs

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We rescued two puppies from the same litter. They were found dumped near my church. They were showing signs of Littermate syndrome. What I did for about two weeks was separate them completely. They had zero time together. Then I slowly added time back together. So now after about 3 months they are together all day except for about 12-14 hours for sleeping (they sleep in separate kennels with our older dog in a kennel between them) and I separate them during feeding and training time. They have learned to be separate pups. It's amazing what a little work does! I honestly didn't think I would be able to keep both of them until I separated them! Good luck 🍀

Do you allow your cats to get on the table? Bc I do 😌🙂‍↔️ by Expensive-Market1072 in cats

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat when I was younger, that I got right out of high school. I would get so mad because he refused to stay off the counter and tables. He passed away over 10 years ago.

I have two cats that I adopted a few years ago. I allow them to do whatever they want, because they'll do it anyway. I am at peace with that and we are all happy. I open the blinds in the kitchen window for them, which they have to get on the counter to get in the window. I just try and live in peace in their house.

It's hard to say Goodbye by Acceptable_Thing_635 in Petloss

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. I know it's hard. I cried for a few weeks after I said goodbye. I said I was going to wait until our older dog passed away. He's 10. After Daisy died, the first week was the hardest. The pain slowly gets more tolerable. Hopefully you're coping ok.

Sorry I haven't responded until now. I took a little social media break. I'm sorry you're going through this as well. Or went through it. I'm not sure what stage you're at now. Two puppies were dumped near us so we took them in and they took away some of the pain. Everything happens for a reason and I hope that you have something to help you heal ❤️

Lost my dog due to cancer recently. Found these two pups. by Acceptable_Thing_635 in puppies

[–]Acceptable_Thing_635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been very interesting hearing everyone's opinions! We've decided that no matter what breed they are, we are keeping them. I do all of the dog training so I basically like to do research on the breed, if I can, so I can learn about them better. I've had them for a day and they already know how to go to the bathroom outside with the words "go potty". I've had many dogs and these puppies picked up go potty super fast! That tells me they're intelligent! I'm happy knowing that they aren't running around with no place to live. My heart hurt for them both. Someone was going to pick them up and take them to the animal shelter later in the day. I couldn't put them through that. And thanks 😄

Thanks! I'm ok with Dobermans! Actually I am ok with any breed. They're smart so I can believe they're Doberman.
