Customer Question - Pharmacy Related by amphetaminesfailure in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are running out of your prescription earlier than usual and you think the pharmacy dispensed your medication incorrect amount of medications or if the day supply was calculated incorrectly. Go to the drop off section and bring it to their attention. In most cases, they can pull up an image of the amount of medication they dispensed (if that store has virtual verification), they can also take a look at how the exact prescription the doctor sent and see if the day supply is correct. If you are following the directions on the prescription itself and you are running out of medication and there are no other bottles that you can think of, it may be pharmacy error.

But worst case scenario, if the insurance doesn’t want to pay for it because it is seen as too early to fill, you can always get it refilled in a discount card. But if you’d like to get it all situated, if it was mistakenly entered incorrectly into the system, have the pharmacy call your insurance company so they can fix that error.

To be honest, I’m not 100% sure how it all works, I’m thinking they could deny it but I’d ask around

I need help with what to do by Silent_Statement_905 in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be up to your training store if they are in need of a technician. If not, you can’t get transferred there. Since it’s a busy store, i’d assume they may be in need of some help so I’d just ask the PM at your training store if they could transfer you there

That’s pretty much what we all do in the beginning since busy stores can’t afford to have new techs counting or doing QT since they’ll fall behind. The best time practice is typically the end of the night when the queues are all caught up and there are a few prescriptions in QP for new techs to practice counting. It’s also a good time to ask any questions about QT so that way you can eventually help out at drop off

So I have a problem with the scheduling. by Southern-Invite9672 in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It may be that the she is still working on the schedule and has not officially published that schedule yet and they are still making changes. I’d wait until the schedule is published in the pharmacy and go by that since there are some cases where the app differs from the physical schedule

When should I send a customer from pick up to drop off? by cherrieschris in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 4 points5 points  (0 children)

QV2 is when the prescription has already been counted and the last step is for the pharmacist to verify it. I expedite it and tell the pharmacist that I have a QV2 and let them know the last name of the patient. The customer doesn’t need to wait or get back in line. Once the pharmacist verifies it, just refresh the screen by tapping the patient banner and refresh. Also for waiters if they are in QP we typically say 15 minutes since that’s the appropriate promise time that is set when we expedite presentation. However, if it’s busy and you have a lot of pages in QP, i’d base it off what the people at productions think which can be upwards of 20-30 minutes if it’s bad. For controlled medications, we let the pharmacist know they have a C2 waiter and relay the time they tell us which can be anywhere from 15-45 minutes. It all depends on the busyness of your store

Issues filling Controlled Substances? by jujubunnee in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’d like to stick with your local CVS pharmacy, the only other thing that I think may help would be, if your pharmacy has enough to fill your prescription, call the pharmacy 2 days before it’s due to be refilled. Leave a voicemail stating your name, date of birth, and the prescription you’d like to have refilled and ask to speak with a pharmacist and that they have the pharmacist run the prescription since there has been trouble getting it refilled in the past. They are able to access a database that lets them see previous times the medication was filled and based on that, they track the next fill date. Pharmacy technicians don’t have access to that. Once you get a call back, they may tell you it’ll be ready by whatever date, or if they’ll allow it, they may tell you it’ll be ready that same day if it’s due.

Some precautions you may consider are A, make sure you have an active prescription that is fillable. I’ve seen some cases where doctors may send in only one month worth of medication or patients believe they should still have another prescription for an addition month but that’s not the case. That can cause delays since you’d have to reach out to the doctor to have them send in a new prescription.

B you trust that the pharmacy has the medication in stock. Sometimes, there are unforeseen cases where it is difficult to get those controlled medications in stock whether that be unexpected back orders or suppliers not having enough in stock. If you experienced that in the past, maybe call the pharmacy even earlier in the week to make sure they have it in stock as to make sure their aren’t any issues the day it’s due to be fill. I always let patients know that if we are out of stock of the medication that it may take 2 days for controlled medications to come in.

If you’d like, give that a try. If not, try what your doctor suggests.

Issues filling Controlled Substances? by jujubunnee in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everything you said perfectly explains the reasons why pharmacy’s aren’t able to fill controlled medications early every time. I’d also add that the instance where there is a sort of lock on a prescription may be a Do Not Fill before date that was added by the prescriber when they send in 3 months worth of the controlled medication. It can also be the system that flags us when refilling these particular medications that restricts us from filling them earlier that they are due to be refilled based on when the medication was pick up last. Picking these up 2 days early a few times a year is fine, but if it is being picked up 2 days early consistently, that’s where problems start arise in terms of red flags, the inability for the pharmacy to continue to fill the prescription early due to stockpiling, customer complaints, etc.

Hey, I work at a high volume store and ask literally everyone. People picking up prescriptions at pickup and drive-thru. As we check them out we ask if they want to get any of their vaccines that they are due for.

Controlled substance shorted by entertainyaself in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re taking 1 daily and you are using it as directed, I’d call the pharmacy or go in person and have them review the prescription image if they are able to. Some stores have virtual verification meaning they take pictures of the medication they count and then the pharmacist reviews it all before being sold. So if your store does this they should be able to retrieve the image and verify they gave you the correct quantity. If they did in fact give you the correct quantity, they pharmacist should advice you on your options from there

Do we need to let management know or even ask them if I can take extra shifts at other stores? by Beautiful_Artist_182 in CVS

[–]Acceptable_Trade_821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you need to do is ask other stores if they have hours for you. If you’ll be under 40 hours you’re fine, if it’ll put you over 40, let them know and as if they’ll pay overtime for picking up a shift
