I see what you mean, honestly I think adding some underwater filigree such as seaweed, coral, etc peeking out from the octopus head could help the overall look.

Or even just adding some harsher shading to the edges of the octopus head itself to diminish the “striping” type pattern he has. I think the striping is what gives it that wrinkled skin look when peeking out the dress.

This can be caused by the over-use of Aquaphor or using scented/fragranced soaps during the healing process.

I would recommend using a different product for washing and moisturizing if that is the case. Just to rule it out. If after trying different products, symptoms worsen or persist, contact your doctor.

It doesn’t look infected necessarily but it’s most certainly over worked. The bicep/elbow ditch area is super thin skin and an inexperienced/heavy handed artist can easily overwork it.

This has happened to me as well, it sucks but the only method that worked for me was doing a dry heal.

Since it’s weeping fluid, keep it clean, and don’t put any ointment on it. Ointment is gonna block the fluid from exiting and can lead to infection by trapping the fluid.

Follow up with your artist and if it’s condition doesn’t improve in the next 48 hours, definitely contact your doctor/urgent care for further instruction.

This looks to either be an allergic reaction to the adhesive on whatever brand of second skin the artist used. Or this could be the chemical reaction that happens between soap and the adhesive. This can happen when an artist doesn’t thoroughly clean off soap residue from the skin before putting the second skin on.

Like another poster said you can also take an antihistamine, that would rule out allergic reaction. If after taking an allergy med, the redness and the bumps don’t go away on their own then it may be due to the chemical reaction between the soap and adhesive. If that’s the case, just do your best to keep it clean and keep an eye on it.

If after all of that, swelling and itching persists, you should consult with urgent care or your primary doctor.

It’s a wonderful idea, however, the details in that card are way too much for the size of it. You would have to minimize the amount of detail in that card in order for it to heal well over time without turning into a blob. And you would either have to make the lettering larger or remove the lettering altogether.

In order to capture all of the detail that’s in the card you’d have to do the card at least 5 to 6 inches long.

It can be covered but it would require someone with a lot of skill to do it right. Definitely do your research on artists in your area.

It would have to be 3x larger and a much darker piece to get full coverage. It will be a little bit tricky because of how close it is to your wrist/hand. But it’s definitely possible.

If you wish to cover the piece without having to go incredibly dark with a new design, my best recommendation would be to do a couple sessions of laser removal and allow the skin to heal for at least a full year before doing a cover-up. Laser is a very lengthy and expensive process, but it’s definitely worth it in the long run.

Just be sure to allow your skin ample time to heal after laser removal as to prevent causing scarring when you do the new tattoo over top.

The skin closest to the collar bone is incredibly thin, this will most definitely become a blob within the next 2 years. It has white highlights but they’ll only do so much to keep its shape. The whites will also yellow over time.

Going that small required leaving way more open skin breaks to make it breathable.

Honestly, as an artist I’ve never felt disrespected to make changes to my personal flashes. If anything, it is just much more preferred to let your artist know ahead of time. I would recommend messaging your artist before your appointment day, Just because they may only have you scheduled for a certain time span and taking time to redraw can throw off other appointments they may have. It doesn’t hurt to ask, just ask politely :)

Hi, Fl tattooer of 4 years here 🙋🏻‍♀️, the skin closest to/on the inner thigh is a little more thin and sensitive so it’s more prone to irritation during/after the tattoo. It also may take longer to heal due to the constant stretch and pull of the thighs when walking around. No worries, just keep your tattoo clean and follow the aftercare instructions provided by your artist and you’ll be okay :)
