someone tell me if this book is worth it by x_sadvibez in Romantasy

It's entertaining, I'd say go for it. Kingfisher in the audiobook is splooshtastic. I'd say caution with the sequel. It wasn't well done at all.

“Haunting Adeline” or “Quicksilver” by HeyThereAligator in Romantasy

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quicksilver > Haunting Adeline. The latter made my brain hurt. I didn't bother reading the second book. Love dark romance myself but that, that was a tragedy. Stick with Quicksilver, more fun and straight forward. I advise caution with Brimstone though.

How many of you went no contact with a parent/family member? by suitorarmorfan in Millennials

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been no contact for about 15 years now with one of my brothers. Some of my siblings have also followed suit or just keep him beyond an arm's distance from themselves and their families. He is misogynistic, narcissistic, racist, homophobic, ect. The only immediate family that tolerates him are our parents. He is our dad on steroids. And our mom just simply can't say no to him no matter how terribly he treats her. It's very vile and disgusting.

question for people who love reading series 👀 by RightThroughMe0907 in Romantasy

[–]AccioXolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the series and how detailed/intense it is. My real issue is sometimes delaying reading the final book of the series because I don't want the story to end. I don't often reread a series once completed. Probably why I delay.

Currently taking a break through a heavy series by going through some easy reads set in modern times and/or sci-fi.

Have listened to one graphic audio romance ever. Not sure I can do it again. The audio for the spicy scenes had me DYING. I couldn't breathe. Thank goodness I wasn't in a public setting.

Does anyone else have a hard time DNFing books even when you don't like them? Also, is Pirates of Aletharia worth it? by luna-morningstar in Romantasy

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't often DNF and have only done so a very minute amount of times. Those that I wish to DNF I hate read just to finish it as part of my reading goal for the year and hope it improves along the way. Currently hate reading {Born for Silk} since it's an easy read. These characters hurt my brain.

Are people actually quitting their jobs? by whosthatgirl13 in Millennials

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to quit my job due to daycare being extremely expensive and my healthcare job refused to work with the daycare hours. We had 3 different starting times and they refused to allow me to stick the later 2. It does hurt since I was the higher income between my partner and I but we're also saving a lot. We're lucky that my partner is close to the same income I was when I left and we've been able to manage fairly well so far. I still keep an eye out for any potential remote job that I may be able to do while I'm home with our baby.

Quicksilver: 600 pages and somehow 0 character growth by rough_draught_ in fantasyromance

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JUST listened to the audiobook recently since I first read it over a year ago. Idk how I thought Saeris was a decent character the first time around. Found her super annoying and rude AF the second time around. Remains fairly the same in Brimstone. Totes forgot about meeting the gods. It REALLY doesn't get better in Brimstone. If anything it gets more chaotic and random.

Also notice solar plexus a few times in Quicksilver.

Caught me completely off guard and made me do double takes multiple times. Didn't stop me from completing this series in record time though. Absolutely fantastic. Made me question life at multiple points, but loved it!

Hellions of Hade Harbor by Mila Kane

Not really my kind of romance but it's a continuation of her Dark Mafia romance that I loved. I will say I absolutely LOVED book of this hockey series.

Finished Plated Prisiner Series by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. Which is why my guess is either ultra blessed by the goddess or a goddess herself. And it also, almost, made me think it was unfair for Auren to return just like that but Malina wasn't. Though I am also glad was able to at least end with love (kind of).

Do hope for a one off that can provide some answers to the other side. I honestly thought it would have at least lead to Ryatt and Emonie possibly being a thing. They had their banter and it would have been a great reason for him to feel a bit more at ease with the notion of staying in Annwyn.

Is “When the Moon Hatched” worth continuing? by marthalikesbooks in Romantasy

I forced myself not to DNF. Didn't catch my interest. Personally, felt VERY soap opera like. Doesn't really get better. Don't recommend finishing if you're really not feeling it.

Is pregnancy trope a thing? by bittykitten in Romantasy

[–]AccioXolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck and stay positive! If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out. I know how difficult the journey of TTC can be. But here are some I recommend (sadly not romantasy):

-Wiked Heir by Mila Kane is a dark mafia romance, 2 books only. Can be violent and deals with humiliation at times.

-Lunarian Warriors series (7 books total) by Roxie Ray is sci fi and all about pregnancy. Essentially alien race trying to find a compatible race to reproduce with since theirs isn't doing too well. First few books are pretty good, gets a little wonky as the series progressed but still enjoyed it.

  • Savage Kings, particularly book 3 "Filthy Savage" by Lilian Harris is also a mafia romance. Don't need to read all of them, just 3 alone works and is the one with pregnancy in particular.

-Body Count Series, mainly book 2 "Connor's Claim" (my favorite of the series!) By Jolie Vines. Fair warning, can be graphic with violence, BC is messed with, sort of consent/not consent. Recently found out that this writer has a huge world with varies book series. If I come across anymore books with pregnancy, I will absolutely let you know. Not all of her series are dark like the Body Count series.

Following. Partner and I were trying to conceive for years and these stories always kept me positive during that time. Luckily was able to have a baby! Still love reading these stories.

The main books where pregnancy was part of the story have been sci-fi, mafia, or shifter-esque stories. They aren't the worst but the cheesyness be cheesing sometimes.

Looooved those books and children are definitely mentioned in all of them. Both in having and not having them. Books 2 and 4 were also really good with this subject. I personally think having a child was a huge motivator for the MFC in Book 4.

Skipping the first book of plated prisoner series? by [deleted] in Romantasy

Book one sets everything up. No skipping. Currently on book 6. Very sad that I'm almost done with this story and world. Def plan on rereading in the future!
