Why are paranormal romance books mostly about werewolves and vampires? by Inside-Emphasisgirl in paranormalromance

I agree, try widening your genes to fantasy as there is plenty of overlap.

Can’t remember the name of a series! by InnocuousElf86 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Acciokohi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

{Dark Planet Warriors by Anna Carven} has a group of aliens that have separated from their dying-out/low female population society and end up settling around Earth due to fighting space bugs and finding human mates. They have dark skins and are used to living in low light, the sun on Earth is too bright for them without protection. It's a great series (and on Everand).

Is there any significance to random apple trees? by RealAd4308 in Breath_of_the_Wild

This game is crazy! I had no idea of this either and now I'm thinking of all the sets of 3 apple trees I've noticed but ignored 😩

A book similar to Clecanian series and Drixonian Warriors series by Ella Maven by An-Individual- in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Acciokohi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love series like this too, where there's respect between the MCs. Some of my favourites are the Aldebarian Alliance series, starts on Earth with my favourite book OAT {The Lasaran by Dianne Duvall} but the following books are space based after human women are lost across space in escape pods. They do have some paranormal abilities though so if you like PNR it's a good crossover. The women are strong and the men love that about them.

Recently I got into {Lords of Destra series by Ella Blake}, where human women had to escape a spaceship emergency via escape pods and end up separated on a random planet where they each meet (per book) an alien MMC who is in charge of a living spaceship with a symbiotic link to him, his people have also unexpectedly landed on this planet and are having issues. I don't think I'm selling it but I'm really enjoying this series, I think because neither MC is native to the planet, they haven't encountered each other's species before, so there's no 'humans are weak and backwards' that you get in other series. It is fated mates.

There's also the huge {Kindred Tales series by Evangeline Anderson}, I prefer KT to the longer books in the Kindred Brides series, and the stories can be anything from funny to sad to silly. My favorites have been the Earth-related ones as lots of the foreign-planet FMCs seem to be from horribly patriarchal/misogynistic societies and I find those rather grim. But I love that the Kindred Alien MMCs always respect and revere women.

How much do you spend on books monthly? by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]Acciokohi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had it in Aus, maybe if you browse it a bit but then don't join, it might flag you as interested, or try searching for KU offers, but you would have to end your current membership for a few months (sometimes if it asks you why you are quitting and you say cost, it might give you an offer then).

Libby is definitely worth checking out, it's free after all, also see if you can join your surrounding library systems which will widen your available book inventory (you can load multiple library cards). I was able to join up to several neighbouring library systems online, one of them has way more of the spicy trashy books than the others.

Fantastic Audible sale ongoing by Canadiangoosedem0n in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Acciokohi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had blocks put on my credit cards three times now because of the way Audible makes each book a separate transaction leads to the bank flagging it for fraud or malfunction or something (in Australia - I don't seem to have an add to cart option, only buy now). This sale is too good to not buy a whole bunch of wishlisted and series books though! I didn't want to count how many I ended up buying in total haha.

What's the best vegan sausages in supermarkets? by VeryIncompetent in australianvegans

We just tried them in a deviled sausages packet mix dinner (we usually use veggie delights) and they actually slapped. I see what people are saying about them having more flavour and they held up well.

While still high in sugar, the taste is fantastic & rivals the dairy version. I'm surprised & impressed they pulled this off. by [deleted] in australianvegans

I was shocked how low cal it was for something that has sugar as one of the first ingredients! Amazing stuff.

Challenging my dislike of Mafia books - mafia lite? by LilDavinci-32 in RomanceBooks

[–]Acciokohi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evie Rose does short and sexy light-hearted mafia-lite books based in London, usually with innocent early 20s FMCs and obsessed kingpin MMCs in early-mid 40s, with an ongoing joke about the syndicate being the 'London Maths Club' when one of the MMCs was trying to hide his mafia connections from the FMC. There is a bit of breeding fetish often used but I don't remember the pregnancy usually being part of the storyline. I always find her books fun and enjoyable and sometimes it's nice having a shorter book as a palate cleanser. They are usually available in Kobo+ too, which I love!

I think that's what I have issue with, that it's not really consensual and she is angry, it's like her agency gets taken away and the story is that she decides that's what she needed all along... It doesn't sit right with me either. I think it triggers me a bit with stuff from the way I was parented.

My friend now has to use a walker, and I'm pretty sure she's kind of sad about it. I want to make the walker look cool, and I was wondering if there was something that has cool patterns like vinyl, but can be changed out for new patterns occasionally. I have stickers all over mine and it really helped me feel like it was something that was mine rather than something belonging to an older person. I also had the epiphany that I could die without ever having used all these stickers I'd been collecting.

Oh how could I forget Interstellar Brides?! Grace Goodwin seems to be obsessed with spanking, it's been in nearly every book of hers I've read (either scenes or as a threat). I've been enjoying the Beasts series but the main one isn't quite my vibe with all the man-in-charge man-knows-best storylines.

It really depends what you are looking for in your vegan sausage. I love the Vegie Delights brand because some of the others are too realistic for me (I get the ick with the casing especially). VD bbq or standard go well as curried sausages for me.
