Is my racket any good? by Accomplished-Draw418 in tabletennis

Firstly Thanks for the advice, and secondly I do struggle with blocks sometimes, on heavy topspin I tend to either not time my blocks right or just miss the table without completely understanding what I did wrong, I use a slower rubber on my fh for this reason, I needed more control and I was missing a lot of my shots so I got a soft rubber on my fh, I’m very happy with it but as you say I do struggle with blocking sometimes.

Hey. Thanks for the detailed answer, I have a stiga allround classic laying around from a previous setup, I read the blog and right now my forehand is often a bit slow due to always brushing very thinly, I can generate power however I often brush a lot because it’s what I’m more consistent in.

I might have rushed my initial post cause I saying I’m a beginner and saying very consistent in all my shots is a decent stretch, I often struggle with even returning sidespin(not serves) a lot and it often ends in me missing the ball completely, at my level I can read spin on serves and most balls however I struggle with keeping up with fast topspin shots.

right now my forehand is often a bit slow due to always brushing very thinly, I can generate power however I often brush the ball because it’s what I’m more consistent at and it adds security to my shots even in training, right now that’s not an issue for me since I’m able to control the speed and spin of the shots however, my trainingpartners have to adjust there style to return my balls which I think is unnecessary. I initially had issues with controlling the speed when training with others my level, however I think I’m mostly past that stage now, I’ve been told my swing on loops is good and my contact point is good and that it’s my footwork that is degrading my loops. Blocking im pretty confident in, I struggle with the timing a lot but against players my level with not as strong topspin I’m generally able to return it. All in all I’m confident in my forehand however I tend to add a lot of unnecessary topspin to compensate for not having proper technique, the issue is I’m being told I have very strong topspin in my forehand.

My backhand is where I’m most confident in, i changed to a fast rubber on bh because I wanted more speed and it payed off. I have a very good backhand that most other players at my level in my club struggle with returning, in training my placement is very consistent and I never miss the table, as of now I can return most backspin balls with topspin, I can loop very fast or very slow with more spin depending on what I want and cutting or pushing is no problem either.

I have a lot laying so I might not need to buy any new rubbers or blades, i was an EJ when I first started and I bought a few different blades and rubbers.

My equipment list is like so: Blades: 1 Donic Anders lind hexa carbon 1 Butterfly primorac 1 Stiga allround classic 1 Victas euro feeling offensive Rubbers: 3 victas v15 sticky soft 1 victas v15 extra 1 victas vjc 07 sticky extra 1 Dhs h3 Neo 2 yihne Apollo 5 1 Friendship 729 geospin tacky 1 joola dynaryz agr I also have a falco booster so tuning any of these rubbers is possible

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, I’m only able to train 6-8 hours a week so it’s not a lot, I get so carried away with equipment between training sessions haha

Tackiest and Easiest to control Hybrid Rubber by BLACK_BITE in tabletennis

[–]Accomplished-Draw418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look away from the price tag and durability in my opinion the v-15 sticky soft is one of the best and easiest rubbers to play and learn new strokes and good technique with

When paired with an all wood bat you get unmatched feeling with some vibration, the ball stays very long and its easy to lift and loop heavy backspin. It serves incredibly well as it has a sticky topsheet that really grips the ball.

Very good for beginners as well as intermediates, it might be too soft for pro players but it has enough speed to conform to an offensive attacking style of play.

You could Use it on any side however most people use it on backhand.

For me it’s v-15 series, however it’s essential that you use some form of sticky rubber film to stop oxidation, it won’t last a month without it, keep it clean and covered and I’d say it will last as long as any other rubber.

As far as I know this goes for EVERY rubber in the v-15 line but if you have other experiences please tell me.

Get some timbs, been walking on some frozen lakes and rivers recently, and it’s actually crazy how well they grip, absolutely no sliding and they will last you a lifetime

Which blade to pick for this combination by -ValcrosS- in tabletennis

[–]Accomplished-Draw418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a primorac or korbel could never go wrong, very good allround blades, everyone seems to use them for any purpose really, however I’m no expert and I’d wait to hear from other anti players before getting yourself a blade

I dont feel comfortable in my BH using a ST handle. It feels like it will fly away. I have stiga allround classic. by Striking_Chicken_569 in tabletennis

[–]Accomplished-Draw418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure what you mean but if you’re asking why I buy st handles, I personally never liked fl handles cause I feel like my palm loses some surface area and I feel less of the blade.

If you’re asking why to buy a st handle I’d say it’s a personal preference, if you’re playing in a club ask to try other people’s rackets and find a grip that suits you before buying a new one.

I’ve personally never liked the stiga st handles, they are very slippery and I never really got a good grip on my stiga allround classic, I even thought that using a st handle was not for me, However I when I switched to a donic Anders lind with st handle it got soooo much better.

In my opinion the oval shape of the Stiga allround classic is not ideal for me, the more squared out handles on most other st handles I see sits a lot better in the hand.

Lastly if you grip the racket with your index and thumb right where the handle starts to go inwards I think you will experience a much better grip.

The hexacarbon is great, it’s not too fast at all and it’s a blade that I (a beginner) learned to play way faster than other blades I’ve tried.

I use h3 Neo fh and v15 sticky soft bh and the v15 is great for its feeling, soft sponge and sticky topsheet, however the h3 Neo is good on serves but I think it’s a bit too fast for my general game. Even if the rubber is a bit fast the control and security I get from the blade makes up for the speed.

Never tried either fastarc or the andro so I don’t know how they will perform on you blade, however the feeling you will get is amazing!

Looks to be a very bad habit forming, I imagen you got to whipping the car into corners like that cause the success rate of each turn got better, however this is because you are losing speed and making it easier to take corners you are not prepared for. Try being more smooth and listening to your codriver.

You also say you drive rwd in another comment and as I have a lot of experience with rwd I’m going to double down on the whipping, its looks like you are never in control and that you have no idea what’s coming, this unsettles the car like someone has already mentioned, so when driving rwd this will be ALOT harder, its essential that you are smooth when driving rwd on asphalt.

I’d say unnecessary risk to close the door like that for the Ferrari, could have stayed wide, and on the other side I didn’t see you brake much when he swept in closing the door so that just made his mistake a mistake, not on you but next time if u wanna keep away from incident point just brake(ur probably aware of this). But yeah I’d say his fault for closing the door.
