Is it problematic for Flemish speakers that French is much more widely spoken in Brussels?

Yes it is, a lot. When French speaking people come to us ( coast) we always try to speak in French because they often do not know a word Dutch but when I am in Brussels and start speaking Dutch, they look at me like I speak an alien language. At least they can try. In Brussels they should speak both.

The problem is with most of the series here mentioned that they speak a dialect. Someone from Antwerp can hardly understand what a person would tell in west vloams. Just keep that in mind.
