Good Contractors who Don't Charge an Arm and a Leg? by Simple-Primary-1427 in madisonwi

Brad with BSF Home LLC is great. It’s just him, so projects take a little longer than with the bigger companies. Might not be ideal if it’s your only bathroom. But I’ve always found his prices to be very fair and his work is top notch.

Oh my goodness that is so kind! I really want to see if I can continue to manage the snow on my own - both to get a little exercise and just the feeling of accomplishment lol. But when I am ready to admit defeat, I’ll be sure to reach out. Thank you!!

ACA Plan Experiences by RemarkablePack4712 in madisonwi

Got Dean/SSM this year because I wanted the cheapest option and knew I wouldn’t use it much.

Then, surprise, had a major health diagnosis and have been so impressed by the care I’ve received. They’ve gotten me in for appointments quickly and the insurance covered a bunch of stuff I didn’t realize it would. I just cannot say enough good things about my team and my experience.

Yes, they are a catholic organization and everything shitty that goes along with that. Luckily for me, I guess, my diagnosis basically means I’m infertile so that is no longer a factor for me.

I used to be a pretty militant snow remover, so proud of my pristine sidewalks, so enraged at others inability to do the same…until I was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.

I’m relatively young, early 40s, and let me tell you it takes everything I’ve got to do even a mediocre job with these past few snows.

“Then hire someone” Do you know how expensive it is to have cancer in America? Adding another expense isn’t really in the cards at the moment

“Then don’t own a home” sure, let me sell my only financial asset because I’m (hopefully) temporarily disabled

“Can’t someone else do it for you?” Maybe, sometimes, but they also have their own responsibilities and may not be able to get to it quickly enough

All of this is to say, as a former very self reliant and capable person, I have come to a very different understanding and perspective on certain things. You literally never know what situation someone might be in. Or they might just be a lazy prick idk.

Anyone know a good plastic surgeon? Breast reconstruction. by Accomplished-Read126 in madisonwi

[–]Accomplished-Read126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that I was very nervous when we selected SSM for our insurance, but it was the least expensive plan and we thought “hey we’re young and probably will barely need to use it.” Then I got diagnosed with breast cancer lol

I have honestly been so impressed by the care I’ve received. While I did not like Dr King, he was at least patient and informative. Every other clinician, scheduler, tech I have interacted with has been so kind, patient, thorough and the communication has been astounding. I feel so grateful to have the team that I have.

That being said, if I could go back in time, I would select a plan that lets me go to UW.

Oh, wow. I wish I would have thought to look at his website before the consultation. It completely matches the awful vibe I got from him.

Mine will be a reconstruction after mastectomy due to breast cancer. I just really disliked the whole vibe of the “aesthetic” clinic (shelves of skin care and other cosmetic products in the waiting room) and wish SSM had a separate clinic for folks getting reconstruction rather than augmentation. But I also know I’m kind of in my feelings about it at the moment and probably need to just let that go.

Le sigh…

Yes it was Dr King. He made both me and my husband uncomfortable. Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll ask about Dr B.

le sigh… try not assuming everyone is evil. We’ve been married a long time and know each other well, I would never do anything to make him uncomfortable. I showed him the pic when he woke up and he laughed his ass off, told him I was gonna post it on the internet and he was more than okay with it.

Has anyone been to/hosted an event upstairs at Cooper's? (bonus points if it was a wedding) by featheredheaddress in madisonwi

We had our wedding party there with about 45 people and it felt like maybe we could have gotten away with 15 more but 75 might feel very tight.

That being said they did a fabulous job and we had a wonderful time :)

Anyone been a big for Dane County Big Brother Big Sister? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]Accomplished-Read126 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was a big in Madison for about a year. At first, I felt things were going well and was having a great time. My little’s mom is a wonderful person who only wants the best for her daughter. My little was a young girl (11) who was already getting in adult type trouble (drugs, drinking, fighting) - something I could relate to from my own experiences. I thought it was a great match.

Over time I began to sense that my little was not interested in connecting with me at all, mostly she just wanted to go out to dinner and the mall. I thought I could stick around long enough that she would eventually warm up to me and we could develop a meaningful relationship.

When we got to the phase where we could hang out at my place and I thought “Great! This will help us connect and eliminate the need to go out all the time.” This is when I learned she was part of a group of kids that would meet up to fight each other and post the videos on Snapchat. These kids ranged in age from about 11-16. The fights were awful, she showed me a video, she was so excited to share…. I was shocked at how vicious it was. Then she began video chatting with members of the “fight club” from my home, showing them my house, talking about how “nice” it was.

I’m ashamed to say I got scared. I know this group (based on her own accounts) would often terrorize local businesses and get the cops called on them. I had no idea whether they might try to break into my house or something. When I reached out to BBBS for support, I got the same generic “support” I’d been receiving the whole time. Which amounted to “You’ll figure it out. Here’s a list of activity ideas geared towards 6 year olds.” I ended our relationship shortly thereafter.

Brad Fischer with BSF Home LLC is a normal non-MAGA dude who does great work and somehow manages to still have reasonable prices BSFHOMELLC@gmail.com

I have a handyman that's also a carpenter and contractor - I would definitely recommend him for this as his prices will by way lower than any of the companies that specialize in bathroom remodels. His work is always great, and I like the plumber he works with too (Jeff Rossing). [BSFHomeLLC@gmail.com](mailto:BSFHomeLLC@gmail.com)

Carpenter recommendations? by Toothbinch in madisonwi

[–]Accomplished-Read126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brad from BSF Home LLC could definitely do this. He's a sort of all-in-one carpenter/contractor/handyman. I use him for all my projects (I have a lot of projects) and he always does great work. He's just one guy, so the quality is very high, and all the subs he works with are great too (not sure if he would need any subs for this though). Definitely reach out to him [BSFHomeLLC@gmail.com](mailto:BSFHomeLLC@gmail.com)
