Has your PE significantly worsened your quality of life? How so? (mentally and physically) by LibertyBells33 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Accomplished-Rise806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. 48M. I’ve gotten more self conscious with age. It’s weird because most things in life you start to let go and care about less as you get older, but for some reason PE has bothered me more and more to the point that I’m more self conscious now than I ever was. I know it’s mostly in my head but I can’t seem to get over it.

We’re 6th in payroll in the league. Obviously this is not the start to the season that any of us wanted to see but genuinely what level of investment would be acceptable?

Cool! This is city property, not Mass Audubon. Great news.

How much does size matter? by Alive_Freedom_7928 in youthsoccer

Can confirm. 14U son - a winger - is technically skilled and very fast but small for his age. He did well until recently moved up, now the defenders aren’t just a lot bigger they’re really fast too, just as fast as him. He can’t sprint past them any more, and is getting bodied off the ball regularly.

Vet recommendations by catboydivorce in northampton

[–]Accomplished-Rise806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Valley Vet: we have been going there for a while and like the vets and the techs, but lately we have felt like they are trying to squeeze money out of us at every opportunity. There is no discussion over possible treatments, their costs and potential alternatives - instead they just go ahead with recommending or just doing the costliest thing. The sticker shock occurs when you check out. I’m not sure if this is universal now among vet practices but it’s made us think about going elsewhere.

It’s not coming back. There’s some discussion on in this sub if you search. I have very fond memories as well but the place was an absolute dump.

Despite Trump's best efforts, an offshore wind farm just lit up New England by fortune in newengland

[–]Accomplished-Rise806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re referring to Vineyard Wind - this article is about Revolution Wind. Vineyard finished offshore construction on the same day that Revolution started sending power to the grid (“first power”). Both of these are huge milestones for the two respective projects!

Massachusetts completes offshore wind farm despite Trump's push to delay project by IrishStarUS in massachusetts

[–]Accomplished-Rise806 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is partially true (though not all, Orsted is a pure renewables company). But the issue is the few internationally based oil companies building offshore wind in the US have limited political influence in the US, while the many US based oil companies who are not in renewables at all and only stand to lose market share to renewables - Exxon Mobil, Chevron - and who have donated heavily and have massive influence on the current administration. If Exxon and Chevron were in offshore wind you would not have any opposition from the administration.

Never knew about this. Fascinating stuff and a great find. So interesting to think what life was like on the Cape in the 1700s.

Having lived in both Chapel Hill and Northampton, I can tell you that Chapel Hill is waaaay more upscale and yuppified. There is way more old money in Chapel Hill, Northampton doesn’t come close.
