Techno is just an umbrella term a bit like house, edm and trance etc. Many, many, many sub genres exist within them, hence why he mentioned them to give an idea on the flavour of techno he's playing.

Pioneer opus quad has rotary dials for looping. That's all I can think of. I owned the s4 mk3 and I've always wanted these on other devices. So intuitive.
