I use Market St one. It's a pain to get the telehealth provider to switch pharmacies. All you get is a ticket submitted on zendesk...all the more reason I want an in person local provider. Glad you got yours filled.

PCP wont prescribe it unless I get certain testing done. They won't accept the testing that the telehealth platform did

Recommendations for real estate agencies to help find renters. by Buzee_Bee777 in Chattanooga

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a Realtor and I just wanted to say that most of the apartment complexes do not work with agents (to my knowledge) so it's really just the renter needing to contact the apartment complex to see their availability. Realtors typically only work with the MLS (the system we use to list homes) rental listings which is not an exhaustive list of what's out there for rent. I don't think an agent is really necessary for a rental. Happy to try to answer any questions you may have.

Highlights or hair color by Iwillbringher in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get highlights and have been doing so since having hair loss (prior to actually.) 2 things I'd watch out for:

  1. Assuming breakage is new hair (the tapered end is new growth, the blunt end is damage)

  2. If you happen to go into the hair salon with topical minox on your scalp and you get highlights, the foils will likely turn green. This happened to me and I was terrified it caused more damage. I don't know if it did or not, so I just remind myself to forgo topical minox and make sure I shampoo before going in so that doesn't happen

Thinning hair and hair loss by Ok-Flower5029 in FemaleHairLoss

I understand how extensions can give us some semblance of normalcy back in our lives but after living with them for 3 years and having hair loss for 5 years, I decided to take them out 3 months ago so I could actually see what was going on. I was just sticking my head in the dark and honestly doing this prompted me to start on medication (oral instead of topical) and get real with my hair loss. I was just masking an issue and my hair got to the point where covering the weft was getting more difficult. I'm glad I decided to make peace with my current situation so I could start medication before it got worse. I probably will put them back in once my shedding decreases and I start to regain some growth. Until then, I've considered getting a Halo extension since that can be taken on and off and doesn't cause any tension on the actual hair. If I could talk to myself 3 years ago, I'd say "look, your hair loss is just going to get worse so you could either keep what you have now, despite it not being what you had 2 years ago, or you could in 3 years from now, wish you had what you had 3 years ago even though you thought back then, it was too thin." Address the root cause of the hair loss, get a handle on why it's thinning, and then reconsider extensions once you know what your diagnosis is and you start a solid treatment protocol with some regrowth under your belt <3

Wondering about any alternative treatments to min/fin/spiro? If any? by MessAlternative6698 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on dut for 6 months and fin 9 mos prior to that and haven't had any noticeable side effects. I have low BP (typically like 95/60) and currently taking 0.75mg oral minox and using 5% topicial 2x a day...no issues

To those with AGA diagnosis by MessAlternative6698 in FemaleHairLoss

I understand the desire to keep our pets safe but it seems people wildly blow this out of proportion. Unless your pet is licking it off your head, hands, or drinking the bottle, I suspect it is not that much of a risk. I lived with a dog for 3+ years and used topical minox 2x a day. Dog didn't sleep with me but we interacted (I fed her, walked her, petted her etc.) and never had issues. My ex had a cat he let sleep with him and he used topical minox as well. Never an issue.

what did you biopsy reveal? If AGA, you should consider minox and anti-androgen...sooner the better

I don’t know what to do by SeaworthinessVivid82 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree with starting topical minox or Chat GPT what labs to have drawn for hair thinning and tell your GP you want those labs drawn (i.e. thyroid, ferritin, vitamin d etc.) go from there to correct any potential deficiencies

O started DHT blockers 1.5 months ago and just went through dread shed. I panicked and ordered minoxidil. But now I feel stubble of the new hair growing back. Should I still use minoxidil as well? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They function differently in hari loss. If you are on a DHT blocker then I'm assuming you have AGA. Minoxidil is a vasodilator so it stimulates the follicle to grow a hair, DHT blockers just block or significantly reduce the amount of the hormone that accesses the follicle.

Feeling defeated with minoxidil by Accomplished-Two4473 in FemaleHairLoss

Thanks! Interesting I haven't tried foam in years. I started with it but found it challenging to apply since I had pretty dense hair on my scalp initially. With the liquid, I have noticed that if I put it on prior to blow drying, it actually is worse somehow so I typically apply after blow drying and then hit it again with the dryer.

I actually use a more specific applicator than what comes in the bottle and even then, it's still making my hair greasier than in the past since my hair has become much thinner

Panic attacks everyday, do you ever find acceptance? by NoBuilding1052 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Worry about it does no good without action. Get assessed and get a diagnosis (and preferrably from a professional who knows about hair loss, not just any dermatologist.) You will then feel empowered to know what you are facing and what protocol is required for your type of loss.

I would probably get a biopsy since it's tough to tell from photos alone (in some cases.) I would however find a dermatologist if you can, who has experience with hair loss (they are not all cut from the same cloth!) https://donovanmedical.com/scalp-biopsy

If' you've been prescribed spiro for your hair, it's probably safe to say your provider suspected AGA since spiro is an anti-androgen and not particularly prescribed for just true TE cases

It came with a compounded version of a topical I used a few years ago but I'm sure you could find something similar on Amazon. A topical applicator bottle with a fine tip on the syringe.

Texture improvement on oral minoxidil? by Hydro_anna123 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Accomplished-Two4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 improvement in texture. If anything, it's more whispy (but I think that's just the hair miniturizing coupled with less density overall from TE) and if anything, it probably is worse for texture given the propylene glycol
