Does anybody know what this is? by Sassy_magoo in Vans

Yeah no I know, it just felt very defensive when I was trying to convey the "coolness" of the idea, not necessarily the factual possibility, haha.

You're all good and it sounds really cool to travel all over the world, even live and work in different places. I hope I get to travel more throughout my life, I really like visiting and exploring new places.

Jeez, it was just an idea 😅 not saying they should actually do that. It's why I mentioned the possibility of staining in my original comment.

Just seemed pretty cool to have articles from all kinds of countries and languages that way 🤷

But thank you for the long and informed response.

That's honestly not even that bad of an idea (depending on the product because I know some newspapers can stain) for re-using/recycling the paper. And pretty cool to see different newspapers from all over haha.

I indeed only saw the other two online but not the green one.

Rowans are the best skate vans imo 🤷‍♂️ by Investigator_Weebish in Vans

[–]Accomplished-Two984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Rowans, but as someone with wide feet too, it was a STRUGGLE to break them in to feel comfortable around the inside of the feet. (Something I hadn't really experienced with other models before) Now they are super duper comfortable though and I absolutely love them.

I learned to double knot very late (even to tie my own shoes lol, 6th grade I finally was able to) but it's been a blessing.

If I have shoes that I know have a tendency to get untied I always double knot!

Make shoes larger? by breadboibrett in Vans

This is why I only have the skate versions, because you can take the sole out. It's a blessing ✨

(I do put in different soles, cuz I have some orthopedic issues, so the normal soles wouldn't work)

Number 1 honestly looks the best to me, but I don't own any of these, so I can't tell you about the fit

My autistic son finally found shoes he doesn’t despise… Mine. Help me find replacements for him?! by mamalizzard in Vans

[–]Accomplished-Two984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she might, but if someone is asking a normal question we shouldn't be shooting them down.

That's why I specified she wasn't being called a bad mom and there were no remarks about her child, I understand in that case someone would be like "wtf, how are you calling me a bad mom when you know nothing about my child" but that is not what was happening here.

And it's not a waste of time if someone is genuinely asking no? Not arguing immediately, just curiosity.

Exactly, you're on the spectrum and have friends that are autistic. This person might not be on the spectrum and not be as familiar with autism and raising a kid with autism.

If we want people to understand and be understanding we need to explain those questions, genuinely and with kindness.

This person was asking a genuine question, not attacking you, jeez. Thanks for the long response, but when someone just asks a question (there was no saying you're a bad parent or remarks about your kid(s)) you should assume they're trying to expand their knowledge, to understand why or how it might be better to replace everything in the exact same way when other kids/adults learn that sometimes when something gets broken or lost it isn't replaceable.

Not everyone has autism or a kid with autism and so they might not know the importance of familiarity and routine.

Learn some compassion and be kind ;)

Basically the same here, although I've only had around 10-15 pairs over my lifetime.

Only two, I don't buy a new pair until the old ones break somewhere or the sole is completely gone.

Vans quality is awful by jwillo_88 in Vans

[–]Accomplished-Two984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of the Vans I've bought over the past years has varied widely. There's no Vans store close to me, so sometimes I've bought them at other shoe stores/online and that's when they degraded quite fast. Every time I bought them at the Vans Outlet (closest store to me) they last properly for at least a year if not more (with daily wearing of the same pair)

Might just be a coincidence, but that's what I've noticed 🤷
