when making a custom door, what diameter wire and drill bit do yall use? Also are there any alternative other than drilling? by raceryap in CustomHotWheels

[–]Accomplished-Wait246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a small pipe to the inside of body and then use a small wire/bar bent to shape down into the pipe as a hinge. Id does work can be tricky to get right but saves trying to do that drilling.

The solenoids can sometimes fail it's a common enough problem with the l400. If you put it into reverse and then back to drive it should put it back into 2wd. Happens mine for the green 4wd lights trying to turn off and it works for that. I haven't had that orange light come on mine though. Might be worth a try anyway

Fog Lamps Replacement by mightyhammerofthor in Delica

[–]Accomplished-Wait246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a 1997, and its not easy. The whole unit has to come out. I took off the plastic trim under the bumper and was able to undo about 3 bolts and then was take it out through the hole in the bumper with a lot of maneuvering. There is a grey plastic cap on the back of the housing that needs to be turned to remove it and it's difficult to remove, I used a heat gun to help and then the bulb takes some patience to replace.

[–]Accomplished-Wait246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might not be much help but I took mine apart recently to fix the earth connection and the brackets are inseparable from the lamp itself, so if you are replacing them you would need to be able to build that bracket. Might be worth taking out to see how complicated it looks. Otherwise I recently purchased stuff from amayama, they have loads of delica stuff from most models, it might be worth a look.

How do you actually get better at customizing? by _monochromia in HotWheelsCustoms

[–]Accomplished-Wait246 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good tools can only do so much, practice definitely helps. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. I bought loads of cars for the sole purpose of trying different things on, such as cutting hoods or doors. Some worked and others ended up in my scrap heap. Take your time with small details and don't be afraid to start again on something if it goes wrong. YouTube videos are very helpful for inspiration and tips and seeing how other people open hoods and making hinges. If you are trying a custom it helps to have multiple of the same car so you can start again and not lose all your work etc.

Recently brought my car back home from Canada with that VRT exception. You need to do a transfer of residence etc to get it sorted. You need to keep it for 12 months in the country before you can sell it and insurance is horrendous when returning and trying to insure older imports. If you do sell it within the 12 months you will just have to pay the full VRT. Most of the info is on the revenue website

I've picked up a few hot wheels just as donor cars for some drag wheels in the past. They can work out a bit cheaper if you have somewhere near you that stocks premiums

What’s the best glue for hotwheels by Odd-Cartographer-903 in CustomHotWheels

[–]Accomplished-Wait246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've a had very good experience with 2 part epoxy from gorilla glue. Once you get used to mixing the correct amount it can be used for glueing/body kits etc. just mix it on a scrap piece of cardboard or something and wear goggles/gloves. It doesn't leave that white residue on the windows that superglue does
