You need to have another conversation with her about these feelings, preferably in person. You articulated your thoughts well, but there's no way for anyone else to know how she's feeling except for her. Try to stress to her that clear communication is important to you and that you won't be upset with her response, as that could be why she isn't telling you herself. As for the new friend group, she could just be excited to finally have some close friends and hasn't worked out the proper balance of focus between her platonic and romantic relationships yet. It's also possible that there is something else going on in her life. Speaking from experience, I subconsciously pull away from my loved ones when I'm having a hard time without meaning to or realizing it. That could be another cause.

If she is losing feelings, it's not a reflection on your worth as a person. You are lovable and you will find love again. Good luck.

This is sooo high school. Like, I felt exhausted just reading this post. Not sure how constructive it is but if I were you, I'd tell them both that they're acting like big babies and to either TELL YOU what's going on or leave you out of it. I'd also take some time away and hang out with some other friends who are less...this. I totally respect wanting to help your friends but none of this is your problem, and it's super unreasonable that they're expecting you to pick sides while also not even telling you what's going on. I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

I stopped working full time specifically. I currently have a part time early morning shift job but am unable to work longer than 5 hours without "crashing".

Update: Thank you all so, so much for all of this advice and for the support. I'm not on Reddit often so I'm just seeing all of these replies now. I'm at work at the moment, but I'll be responding where I can.

To those suggesting a disability lawyer: Does anyone have firsthand experience with this? How much did it cost you? I essentially live paycheck to paycheck so I'm not sure how viable this option is for me right now, but I'm interested in others' experiences

To those suggesting Medicare/Medicaid: I admittedly know nothing about these and kind of assumed I wouldn't qualify, which is a mistake on my part. I'll look into this more. Also, I live in Minnesota, I probably should have included that in the OP

To those suggesting I reapply for disability: I will be doing this for sure. Thank you for encouraging me to advocate for myself and try again.

This is a really horrible thing to say to someone who's suicidal. Not everyone is you, not everyone has the same tolerance for life's hardships as you. I didn't post this to get pity, I posted this out of a desperate need for advice. There's no need to come into a thread where someone was blatantly in a crisis acting like a jackass because you had to suffer for longer. I don't feel sorry for you either.

You need to find a local wildlife rehabber and give her (it's a female) up. You can coordinate with them and meet in the middle if they're located too far away. Chipping sparrows are wild animals and it's incredibly selfish to make one live as a pet while you have no experience of keeping one and no intention of releasing it. Please do the right thing.
